Gift Cards are coming!

We've just posted two very important blog posts, please go read them now! We (the Payments team) are really excited that we can finally share this news with all of you!

The first is a huge announcement for us--Etsy will soon be offering Gift Cards! All shops accepting direct checkout will also be able to accept Etsy Gift Cards, so you're all set. We're also giving you guys free card processing for the entire month of September! This means you'll save over 3% on every DC order.

Very cool. This is a great idea and will help us that support direct checkout. Once established I would love to see it as the only form of payment accepted. Seems fair to me, as I don't recall being able to use direct checkout on my last ebay purchase. :-)

As a relatively new Etsy seller, I want to thank the powers that be on Etsy for making it so easy to set up shop and especially for direct check out. A majority of my sales are through DC. Now we're getting two fantastic gifts from Etsy: waiver of the DC fee on sales throughout September and Etsy gift cards for use in shops that use DC. Wow! I'm very happy! I appreciate the work that Etsy is doing to help my little venture into capitalism become successful!

Do I understand that the fees will be waved for the month of September? Or, is it from now (August 30th) till the last day of September?

I have a hat on hold for someone that will probably make the purchase tomorrow, August 31st so I would like to know.

I was thrilled last night when the email announcing the impending arrival of Gift Cards found its way into my In Box. Very much looking forward to how this benefits the community, though I am a bit wary of the public confusion that may ensue in that Gift Cards will only be able to be applied to shops with DC.
