What is going to be given to our international sellers?

If you've read the main forums lately you will know that the international sellers are very upset over not being given anything... no direct checkout, no gift cards, no free month of fees.

Does etsy have anything in mind once direct checkout is offered to them as incentive to sign up? Perhaps a free month of fees would be in order along with the gift cards?

Is there an admin here that can respond to this?

I've read the direct checkout and gift card announcement threads but cannot find a mention of there being a plan to offer the international sellers the same perks we are getting. For example, there is no mention of a free month of fees when they are able to sign up for direct checkout. It is only said that direct checkout is in the works and expected to be under way in early 2013. I understand the legal international issues that etsy laid out about this, and that it will take time to make things happen for them. That's not the issue.

What about the promise of a month free of the processing fees? If I were an international seller, I would appreciate being told that. Can you see why they are upset? There is no mention of it in any of the announcements. There is a strong sense of injustice for that reason alone.

I think it would be wise for etsy to tell those sellers that they will be treated fairly and will get all of the benefits the U.S. sellers are now getting. All the benefits, including those free fees for a month just like we are given. That may be all it takes to quench the anger and hurt feelings. That is what I would like to see, wouldn't you?

ohmama - you need to contact Nicole from nixknits - she is a DC admin. and can answer your question. I just read this morning where international sellers will be offered DC & Gift Cards, but I can't seem to go back and find the thread I read.

US sellers with DC will have their seller fees waived for Sept. only which means some US sellers won't see that perk unless they activate DC.

Eye Candy I know exactly how you feel and exactly what you're talking about. I am excited about Gift Cards and I truly appreciate the free month of fees. But, I have several friends on Etsy who are not US sellers and I feel just terrible for them. I have to say, if I was a non US seller I would feel slighted, to say the least.

DC isn't available to them, so they want some form of discount in return.

Perhaps, that's something they will get when International dc becomes available.??

Thank you Nicole. I will relay this message. It seems no one is telling them of this equal possibility in store for them. I'm sure you can understand what they are feeling?

Yes, Diana and Kim..... it is obvious that when they get DC, they will also get the GC but they should also get the free month of fees. It's only right.
