How did you make your first sale?

Hi there Daily Etsy Sellers!

Browsing through the members list of our team and looking at all your lovely shops, I started noticing we are a very diverse group of shop owners. Some of us have been on Etsy for years, others are just starting off and have yet to make their first sale.

Let's start a discussion on making that first sale. We all know it's that one magical moment, just that one sale, we're all eagerly waiting for when just starting out on Etsy.

So let's share!

It doesn't matter whether you only had a couple of sales or hundreds: please share your 'first sale' experience so new shop owners can be inspired.

I made my first sale about a month after opening my Etsy shop. It was to a girl that had liked my Facebook page. She bought 3 of my Christmas Cards, I think I actually cried a little bit I was so happy (and surprised!). I was still trying to convince myself that someone would actually buy something I had made!

I haven't really sold a lot through Etsy, but I stock my cards in a gift shop and a cafe, both locally, and they are selling quite well there. Really need to up my Etsy game though!

I upload a beautiful hand-paint picture, and then sold it soon.
But now, I uploaded more beautiful pictures but sale them slowly.
Why?

Hi there,
some people really don't read before they post ... incredible ... no matter :-)
I do NOT post any items, but tell, what is the request of this thread ;-)))

I started my shop in february this year (2017) and didn't do anything special for my first sale. It was a great feeling *yeah* ... now I do much more and it's not increasing, so I don't know the reason ... but we'll wait and see. At the moment I fill my shop nearly every day with new items.

Maybe you'll have a look ... it would be a pleasure

I made my first sale by posting it on facebook to Online Handmade Craft Fair! Someone commented and wanted to know where to buy my item, I quickly sent the think and they purchased it! My store has been open for 1week.

I started my shop somewhere 2015- Just like any other frelancing websites I started Etsy. My experience with other sites was too bad and I was not seriously thinking about online selling anymore....till mid 2016 when I was working in night shift and one of my friend asked "Hey buddy you heard about Etsy?" I said ...yup I have shop on etsy but I am not mainting. Same day I logged in etsy account (ofcourse by clicking Forget Password Link) and when my dashboard came in front ...... Booooom there was one sell of my template by doing nothing - after that I started like jet plane and improved my listings, studied other shops, online articles and tips and tricks help me a lot.

I am not saying I am big achiever yet but I am going towards it and I want to mention about Etsy - DO NOT COMPARE ETSY WITH OTHER SO CALLED SELLING WEBSITE - ETSY IS REAL AND IF YOU PUT YOUR REAL EFFORTS -YOU WILL GET DOLLARS IN YOUR ACCOUNT - AFTER SOME DAYS YOU CAN JUST SIT BACK AND RELAX.

I had my first order last week and I'm still super excited about it.
It's my first sale to a stranger on the other side of the world. At first I was worried about the digital nature of my articles but I believed it all the way, advertising on various social and trying to offer the best. Now I look at the buyer's review with optimism :)

I opened my Etsy store less than one week ago and had my first sale within 48 hours.

The sale came from a friend of mine who forgot to get a birthday present for his sister-in-law. The perfume sample box he bought from me was supposed to be for a birthday party on the same day so there was really no time left to waste. I carefully gift wrapped the perfume and delivered it in person.

And even though the first sale experience felt a bit rushed, I felt extremely privileged that my friend picked my Etsy store and my products over any high street shop to get the last minute gift.

Since being completely new to Etsy I still have a lot of learning to do and many hours of research and reading on promoting stores and selling tips ahead of me. But the first sale, for sure, gave me some confidence and hope.
