shipping multiple items

When I listed an item or when I was setting up my shipping profile, I saw where you can add a reduced price when shipping 2 or more of the same items. Now I can not find it again. I do not want to charge someone the same amount for each item when they can be placed in the same packaging. Where do you change this?
Thank you.

Re: shipping multiple items

April,
This option is only for set your own shipping prices.
So if you want to put so much for the 1st item shipping prices and a lower price for each additional item shipping price you can not use calculated shipping.

That is the great thing about CS. It calculates multiple items based on the weight and size you've entered in the listings.

Weight is total weight of item + any packing + box.

Dimension is item + any packing only.

Sometimes though to get multiples to work we have to tweak the weights.
This works better on items over 1 lb.

Example, I sell goat coats in my other shop.
Some sizes with a box weigh around 1 lb. 10 ox.

So if 2 are bought, CS figures at a 3 lb. 4 oz rate.

But I can get 2 in a box for just under 3 lbs.

So what I do is put 1 lb. 6 or 7 oz for my item/box weight.
That way when 2 are bought, CS figures on a 2 lb. 14 oz rate.

It will not matter on 1 item since 1 lb. 10 oz is the same as 1 lb. 7 oz.

I also do this on lightweight items. Instead of rounding off say to 3 oz. I'll put 2.5 oz so CS will figure shipping at 5 oz. and not 6 oz.

Re: shipping multiple items

I wanted to add:
Now you can use a combination of calculated shipping and set your own shipping prices.

But when you do this, shipping is figured like this.

CS takes the calculated shipping price PLUS the "each additional item" shipping and combines those 2.

So if you have $0 set on the each additional item sh cost and someone buys that item with an item with calculated shipping item then they are charged $0 for that item with the set your own s/h.

So you have to make sure that each additional item shipping price is enough if combined with a calculated shipping item so you will get enough shipping.

Re: shipping multiple items

I cannot figure this out. I am new to Etsy. I sell fabric by the half yard. I have a US shipping profile on my listings but it does not allow me to put in a "for additional Items" price add on. I am thinking I am stuck with having to calculate every freaking half yard on my own for, I don't know, Alaska or Hawaii and set up the shipping cost for each item I post. What a hassle!

Am I stuck? Or am In not seeing where/how to add "additional Item" to a shipping profile? I plan on having hundreds of items in the store, most will be sold by the half yard which means multiples.

Thanks!

Re: shipping multiple items

Using calculated shipping means you don't need "with another item" because multiple orders are based on weight and zip code. There is no set additional price.

I looked at a couple of your listings and added them to my cart. The shipping came up full price for each of them. This tells me you are probably using the shipping box dimensions in your listing instead of the item dimension.

For fabric you should fold it like you would to put it in an envelope or box. Then measure just the fabric like that. These are the dimensions that go into your listings

Next you put that fabric in a mailer or box, like you would for shipping, and weigh it. That is the weight you put into your listing.

You also need to list the envelopes and boxes you will use for shipping in package preferences. You need to have boxes that will fit multiple fabric pieces in order for the calculator to combine shipping.

Once you get it set up right the calculator will fit multiples into one box, determine the weight, and then give a shipping price based on what zip code the buyer is in.

Re: shipping multiple items

If you want a "with another item" price shipping profile, then you need to select 'set my own price' when setting up a profile.
