Re: Setting up a Wordpress Blog

Hosting Question.
I am finally getting round to starting my website!
Just been to godaddy to buy hosting ( I used it last year when I did a WordPress online course and liked it ) and it seems they now have an option for WordPress hosting as well as their general web hosting.
I wondered if anyone had used this option. It is a little more expensive and I am not quite sure of the difference. Being a non techy, I get lost pretty easy with descriptions!!
Last time I just got the regular hosting plan and did the auto install of WordPress and away I went.
I bought the deluxe plan before. With the WordPress hosting option the economy plan states it is just for one basic website. I am not sure what makes a website basic. I only ask this because the deluxe plan for WordPress is pretty spendy compared to the general hosting version.
I have a premium theme in mind, just not sure if it's basic!

Any help gratefully received. I thought buying the hosting was the easy part of the whole process!
Thanks,
Joy

Re: Setting up a Wordpress Blog

I use Godaddy Wordpress hosting. You can start with the basic plan if you want to get started. I use the middle plan and have used it for years. I think thats $9.99 a month right now.

The private Godaddy hosting is better then the hosting through Wordpress. You have much more control. :) Your Godaddy hosting will use premium themes.

I personally love Godaddy, I love I can call 24 hours a day and get someone on the phone to help!

Re: Setting up a Wordpress Blog

Thanks for the info,
I had the middle Godaddy plan last year with WordPress.org, just didn't bother to renew it. Godaddy were great at answering any questions I had.

It's just that on Godaddy at the minute there is a seperate option to have a WordPress site/blog hosting plan. I didn't see it last year, so I figure it is a new thing!
It seems the same as the other hosting plan other than it is just for WordPress and does automatic WordPress updates. But it is $19.99 a month which is a lot more than the regular hosting plan.
Unless it is really worth the money I will stick with Godaddy's regular hosting plan for 9.99p.m.!

Re: Setting up a Wordpress Blog

I just started using Wordpress for my blog. I am currently using the free version. I like it better then the last blog format that I was using which was tumblr. Tumblr I found was more for people who wanted to share pics. Wordpress I find is for people who actually want to read what you write. I was able to upload all my stuff from tumblr to wordpress and not have to start over. I downloaded the app onto my iphone. While I was gone on my 3 month hiatus to work as a camp counselor in Idaho on an island, I was able to use my network and the app to write more short posts.

Re: Setting up a Wordpress Blog

Usually the free versions wont have font choices, you'll have to look in the dashboard at the themes customizing options.

You can create a button for it with a graphic and use HTML or insert it as a picture and link the picture to Raverly. :)

Re: Setting up a Wordpress Blog

You're welcome. :) You can also create anchor text by linking say.. 'Visit me on Raverly'. Highlight the text and click the chain looking icon, insert the link to Raverly. It turns that text phrase into a link.
