what am i doing wrong?

I started up shop back in february or march, and it slowly took off. then, about 1 1/2 months ago i was selling something every day for about two weeks, now have completely dropped off of the face of etsy! I can find my items okay, so im not sure if its neccessarily the titles or tags, and am viewed on average about 100 times a day. so im stuck asking myself about tags, titles, prices, i dont know..........I was hoping maybe someone could take a peek at my shop and let me know if you see any adjusting that could be done.?

I looked at your shop Amanda, I would try to add a couple more photos, use all 5, and do not forget to name your photos as they can be picked up by google images, for example- name the photo with your keywordsweddingbouquetorchidflameorange2.jpg
I do get sales off of google images a lot.

I am suddenly in the same boat though, sales have dropped off considerably, which is scary as I sold more in august than now, and I am in the Christmas business.

Your titles and tags could use a little tweaking, I suggest placing your item key words at the beginning of your titles. Keywords= wedding flowers, wedding bouquets, wedding flower ensembles, etc. Add the descriptive adjectives after the nouns that describe your items.
Match the first several words of your first sentence in you description to your title and mention the same keyword phrases 2-3 more times throughout the description.
When creating tags try to get one that that matches your title as closely as possible.

@magic sleigh- you are in the same situation as amandasfinerthings. Your titles could be tweaked to be more relevant. Use keywords such as : Ceramic pet sculptures, ceramic pet oranments, porcelain pet ornaments, dog ornaments, etc.
As I mentioned for Amanda since Etsy and Google look at different factors when indexing items you need to optimize for both as much as possible. Etsy basically only looks at the first 40-60 characters of the first sentence of your description where as Google scans the description for repeats of keyword phrases. 2-3 repeats is all that is needed, but be sure to use in normal sentence structure. Sentence syntax is important to the google 'bots.

Your tags also need some tweaking. Google places very little emphasis on your tags but Etsy places significant importance on them. Single word tags are no longer useful. You should change your tags to 2-3 word "tag phrases" at least one of which should match your title as closely as possible.

Both of you could also try placing links to your main shop page and to your sections in your descriptions. This helps to keep the customer in your shop and not outside clicking around and getting sidetracked.

Oh and MagicSleigh- thanks for the info on the pictures! Never gave that a thought.

My only suggestion would be to make sure you have business cards with how to find you and put in extras when you send out your items. Weddings are a one time thing (hopefully!) but referrals go on and on with occasions such as these. Make sure the right people can find you.

virginiawyoming, i belive she is talking about when you save your pictures. You can save them under whatever you want to name them. Mine are all just whatever the computer says they were! lol (not real tech savvy, and didnt know that it mattered) I think, then google will pick up those words and show your pictures? Someone feel free to correct me if im wrong, because i am by far an expert on this! lol

For all of those who have asked about tagging photos-

I just name the photos on my computer, with keywords, like for me
bordercollieornamentcustomblackandwhite.jpg or
Cattabbyornamentorangeandwhitechristmas.jpg

use your keywords, what people will be looking for.
I had a large sale from a lady who was just looking at her breed photos in google images and came across one of my ornaments

Etsy does not use this name with your images, but
but I do have a website which keeps the original names, and if you use a blog, both blogger, wordpress use the original names of photos,
when I search google images,especially looking at a specific breed for me, my photos come up with a link either to my website or my blog

on tagging photos-- is there a way to tag them now that they are listed, or do we have to go back into our photo program, tag & resave them & upload them again to our listings?

Magic Sleigh, how could you tell her photos weren't tagged? I take any where from 50-100 photos at a time. How should I tag each different style or item when I upload so many. I'm sorry, I just don't understand. Please help!

re-tag them into your computer, and re-upload them. There is no way to tell on esty if they are tagged or not and I am not a mind reader....
I take around 200 photos at a time myself, when I compress them for uploading, I also re-name them all, like, I save 5 different photos for esty of a Jack Russell wearing a santa hat, click on them all, re name them, jack russellornament27.jpg, 28.... This only works for google if you are also putting them online elsewhere, like your blog, your own website, twitter, photobucket, flickr,

if not then do not bother as etsy renames all of your photos anyway!
