Hi! :-)

Now I have sorted out the links and logo, I thought it was time to start a thread for shop specific advice. I will no longer be offering personal advice over convo, as I have been recently.

That's because I'm typing out a lot of the same information, and if you HAVE to go for this blasted Team Forum thing, we need to try and make as much information available as possible.

This discussion is visable to all.

Simply post a link to the shop you would like looked at, and I or another SEO helper will gladly have a poke around and offer you some personal advice for your shop.

Keep us updated on how things go! And don't forget I have a 5 day SEO course for beginners which might help you get started :-)

Re: Shop-Specific Advice

KnotheadsWoodshed ~ what do you mean by the "shop title"? You had suggested to flower fairy her names were the same. I don't know if mine are too, how do I check?
Please and Thank you !

Re: Shop-Specific Advice

faithnhope10, yes, your shop title is also the same as your shop name. go to: "your etsy" > "shop settings" > "info and appearance" from there you can edit your "shop title" which should reflect WHAT you sell, and should be loaded with keywords and tags..it should be more like what your "shop announcement" says.... ( Vintage jewelry, Beau, Kramer, collectible / rare books, Vintage records,Vinyl, Calif. pottery,Vintage Advertisements) get the idea? I hope this was helpful :)

as a side note, I have had 2 sales and an offer for a 3rd sale since I changed these things a few days ago and my views have more than tripled, so I am guessing it works

Re: Shop-Specific Advice

Hey there! I´ve just joined Etsy yesterday... and found this team a few minutes ago :-)
I´ve openened a shop...this is how it came out so far. I will ad some more listings soon (need to make some better pictures).
Please take a look at it and tell me what you think.
Please turn attention on my spelling, too... because I´m not a native speaker.

Re: Shop-Specific Advice

You've got great advice and I sure could use it! I've been selling on Etsy for over a year now. Sales have been pretty good so I've never put too much thought into SEO but I think it's about time. I don't even know where to start so any help you could offer would be great. Thank so much!

Thank you Knothead. I changed it to "Printable Invitations and Announcements". Do you think that works?

Re: Shop-Specific Advice

hello all, i am looking for some input on my shop. Most specifically, I would like the ladies (and men) input on styles and designs for my boxes. please take a look and tell me what you would like to see changed or made completely different. I have 1 new type box that I will be listing soon, but I seem to be in kind of a design funk right now. any and all input will be greatly appreciated, and I would like to hear the bad as well as the good. Thanks so much

Re: Shop-Specific Advice

Hi, I just took a look at some of your boxes and love the ones big enough to place your rings and other jewelry items in. A couple of things that I would like to see if some sort or knob or gold (not sure of the correct wording) thing to grab onto when opening. On the tops you could do some sort of personalization or phrase with wood burning. You could also display some jewelry in the boxes when taking pictures just make sure to write in your description "Jewelry not included". Hopes this gives you some ideas.

Re: Shop-Specific Advice

thanks flower, i have been re-taking photos with jewelry, so hopefully thats a step in the right direction The wood I use is usually highly figured, so I shy away from detracting from that with any kind of woodburning, but its a good suggestion for some less figured woods, thanks
so far, I have just been going with a finger slot, but I like the idea of a small knob

thats good but I would try to add a few more tags and keywords
(unique handcrafted cards and invitations) every little bit that can help you get picked up on google and other searches

Re: Shop-Specific Advice

Hmmm, I wonder if I'm doing something wrong, because it would only allow me to use so much space.

Re: Shop-Specific Advice

Knothead, I like the scrollwork on some of the other pieces in your shop. What if you could do a scrolled top on the boxes? Or how about a stand-up style box, where a door opened outward? That's always my favorite style of jewelry box. One that has drawers on one side, and a place to hang necklaces and bracelets on the other.

Re: Shop-Specific Advice

Knotheads I agree with Photo that would be really nice with some scrollwork on the top.
Leoparwood with a Quilted Maple lid is my favorite!
This has nothing to do with the beautiful work you do but, do you think it would be helpful to add Unique handmade to the Heading of your products? I don't know if it would be helpful or not but Unique and Handmade will come up twice for you in a Google search and those two words are really what your shop is about. your
You two do amazing work!
