Oh Robin, you must be bad, lol ;) It seems as though these art forums are far more uptight and regulated then other forums which is funny because we are artist, we speak our minds, that's how we roll, lol.
@Kathy - yes there is a lot of sarcasm and snark in the forums but only a select few seem to get muted. The koolaid swilling "I love Etsy no matter what" crowd seem to get away with anything. I'm not reading the forums anymore since I got kicked out. What's the point?
LOL Robin! What did you do? I wasn't aware that Zibbet kicked people out of the forums. I have a Zibbet shop, but I haven't had one sale so I rarely visit the forums there.
Oh, and Kimber the reason you got kicked out is so stupid that it's comical. :) I'm still smiling about your funny sarcastic post. I guess Etsy wants their forums exactly like their front page, Humorless and bland. If you dare to have an opinion that isn't pro Etsy - SLAP! Banned into infinity. :)
Well, I had a pattern of asking hard questions and standing up the Zibbet's positive police. They roam the forums in shifts, literally, to snark at anyone who raise any kind of concern. And are backed up by the bosses. I'm not alone, two others got the axe yesterday too.
They think the problem is asking hard questions (like about the site stability) is what is their pr prob.
Wow. Robin...I have a shop there too but like Dianna I hardly ever pay attention to it. I guess no matter where you go the P.C. police are there. How is Zibbet doing in YOUR estimation - not the 'party line'? I was so excited about it in the beginning but somehow just couldn't sustain it.
I think someone needs to create a site specializing in artists who are snarky, ill-tempered, potty-mouthed creative types. I'm sure there's a market for it.
Robin, I finally got through on your blog and realized I had read it awhile back and didn't remember until i saw it again. I read the post on Catherine Fake (!) and just shook my head... Sorry about you getting thrown off of Zibbet's forum; it seems that it is just as bad as here. Are the sales on there any better than here?
At one time I was thinking of adding a Zibbet shop in addition to my etsy one but then saw the thread regarding the tweet that the Zibbet owner/founder? made and his ties to that church and decided that I can not knowingly support that mindset. I'm glad it came came into light though, it saved me a lot of headaches in setting up a new shop in a new venue only to close it down.
I'm sorry Robin, I just read your blog and while I don't fully understand all that has happened, I think it is awful for them (Zibbet) to be talking about you in the forums; talk about calling someone out, very unprofessional to say the least. The owners or whoever they were should be muted for that, ha. I have heard that people here have had their mute appeals denied because of what they have posted in teams, which is why I asked Susan to remove some of my posts; not that they were bad, I was just repeating what I had said that got me perma-muted and was worried it may be used against me again by the administrators. Hope things turn around for you and if they do close your shop, they should definitely refund your money.
I have a shop there but don't pay any attention to it so I really don't have a dog in this fight...However, just on general principles I find it scary that it is getting harder all the time to find someplace to just conduct business without worrying about *beliefs* being held over our heads (Zibbet) or "PC-ness" (etsy). I have tried my own site but it is so hard to get into the stream and be "found"; frustrating to say the least. Good luck on further endeavors!
Welcome Catwands. Yes, after a 7 day time out, it seems that etsy lurks in the shadows just waiting to apply the almighty duct tape for good. Perma-mute, life without parole, banned from the forums for eternity. It's really all too dramatic if you ask me.
