I will start it out by saying how weird this whole side of etsy is- where else do you get banned for gosh sake? This has always bugged me- the secretive way things are done around here...it is just plain creepy. There- got it off my chest, again.

I am not banned, but I will sit on this team to support those who have been perma-muted. I disagree (to put it lightly) with ETSY's current policy of permanently banning their paying customers.

I went and google all the blogs against etsy and found that most of them fizzled out around 2011. I sure wish that some one would have a new one. I mean it is nice to be able to come here but the thing is we are all still afraid and wary. I don't know whether it was burn out or just the futility of it catching up with them but there were a few good ones out there that were "calling out" those resellers and shops from "C". I think the buyers would be glad to know which shops were really hand made. If they still chose to buy from C then at least they would be making a conscious choice.

Why was the "Handmade" topic shut down? I was looking at the other threads here and saw an admin on one and the topic was closed and then on the handmade one the topic was closed-are we being policed on here as well?

I would like to add that I'm not too bothered about being banned, because I was actually almost addicted to the forums- and now I get a lot more work done
Hopefully I mostly helped with my knowledge of scams (being an ebay Powerseller)
Advising on the rights and wrong doings of buyers and sellers, postal issues of INR's and cases of SNAD


I was just too verbal when copyright infringers were not allowed to be told you can't make/sell that unless you have permission (in a nice direct no frills, non abusive way)

Etsys line is experienced sellers can flag the shop, but what's the point in that as etsy have no power to do anything unless the copyright holder tells them to take the shops and listings down

BUT what I do miss is if I have a question I can't ask anyones advice, well unless I want to wait 3 days or never for etsy to answer
THAT DOSENT help if a buyer of mine has a question I have no knowledge of the answer to, and I have to ask them to be patient until etsy eventually get back to me with the answer- and that goes for DC as well!

On ebay I have instant access by telephone to get an answer

Ha ha Linda! You sound like me, I was spending way too much time on the forums. And that's probably why my sarcasm kicked into overload.
And life goes on in your Etsy shop after being muted. I have no desire to return to the forums. I am a proud member of the muted by Etsy club.

I just read this in the forums thread about updated guidelines on outside manufacturing: "We start with the assumption that everyone here is a small business owner who takes her craft very seriously so it is important to us to be respectful of each business and engage in a dialog about the handmade process. "

It's great our etsy administrators respects every business here on etsy and operates on the assumption that all bubble necklace resellers are artists - but business owners commenting on the forums get no such respect - even an innocuous off-the-cuff comment can get you ejected permanently WITHOUT dialog.

I made 2 multi item sales today! Maybe it's a good thing I got kicked out of the forums for a week. I've been focusing more on my shop and did well this weekend. :)

Ha, ha, report the shop . Is that what people said. Why, only forum post that are reported get anything done. I have a special friend reporting my posts. Yesterday I got an email telling me that because of my disparaging comments my posts in 4 threads were removed and review policies before posting again. I didn't think they were disparaging whatever that is, I just callem like I see'm. I've never seen such a bunch of snitchy, whiney, snively little people. Ever.

Is it the fact that someone is making a knockoff of a project runway item, or that they are listing it on both etsy and ebay?

As I understand it someone is re-selling PR items and selling on one venue and taking payment on another. IDK the whole thing sounds so convoluted to me that it made my head hurt ><

I think that's fee avoidance? you can sell items on more than one site, but typically, I would think, if someone buys it on ebay, you have to sell it to them on ebay, not refer them to etsy - and vice versa?

Yeah that's pretty much what everyone said. I think sometimes sellers get on the forum and test things out to see if they can get away with it...

You will never guess what just happened! I just made the best ring I ever made. All swirly with a fossil coral stone. i thought I'd use egg yolk to give it an oxidised patina. Left it in the plastic bag with the egg overnight.

Came down this morning and theres this empty chewed up plastic bag and a guilty looking dog.
