I am Libertarian leaning. I can't stand either one of the candidates (republican or democrat) and I'm not a fan of Johnson either...I think I may have to sit this one out.

Don't sit it out!

I read a really good article the other day that explained the logical problem of sitting it out or voting third party as some form of protest. I'll see if I can find it.

Regardless, sitting it out only helps maintain the status-quo. Millions of voters sit it out every year.... and then complain about how nothing ever changes. Because the millions that do vote tend to vote for more and more government, those of us that lean towards freedom get swamped.

Similarly, voting libertarian doesn't really do any good because the LP doesn't run a good game plan. They're a lot like the Communist Party was back in the 50's. It was only after the CP worked to get people into the local and state elections under a different name that they achieved real power. The LP should take a page from their playbook.

I agree with you Vaughn - it's just so damn frustrating!! I wish there were a party (or a candidate) with common sense. Unfortunately, I don't see that happening anytime soon. The Libertarian party tends to attract a lot of loons. Not that the other two don't - but those loons are somehow seen as less loony because they're just considered extremists of the status quo.

True, best we can do is focus on the long march and work to elect the best of the candidates that have an actual chance at winning.

I hope that Trump's presence will galvanize the electorate a bit, shaking things up, so that the GOP sees the error of their ways. Since the LP doesn't stand a chance at winning, this is the best option. Maybe, just maybe, the LP's base will open their eyes and start working within the system to change the system. You can't do that from the outside like they seem to insist on.

For decades conventional wisdom states that voting your conscience is 'wasting' your vote. Well, conventional thinking has gotten us no where. Maybe unconventional is warranted.
