Like a couple of others on our team, I am new to selling on Etsy. How long did it take for seasoned sellers to make their first sale? Love to hear from you!

I agree awesome advice. I opened a store last year but didn't have time. i made one sale (it was a friend). I reopened last month and made 4 sales this week. Im thrilled.

I've opened my shop (or beauty boutique as I call it) in the mid of August. I've started with vintage items only intending to add my handmade in the future. My first sale happened yesterday that made me SO HAPPY!!!

It took me 4 months to make my first sale here at Etsy. At the start, I used to constantly be on the computer wasting time and looking at views, forums etc. Now I allocatte 1 hr a day on the computer only and create, create create. Good luck to all of you and sincerely hope you are all successful here.
We had our first sale after 3 months open. Just recently had a custom order as well so that was exciting.
Just like with most new business it takes time to build a following. Just keep chipping away, use social media, link back to your etsy store whenever you can and improve, improve, improve.
It's been nearly 4 months since we started and there are still heaps of things I'd like improve - mostly photos - but I work full time (hubby does the creating) and since I'm in charge of social media etc there aren't alway enough hours in the day.

Congrats to all that have made sales on Etsy. I opened in April and sold my first item pretty quickly. A tip is to use other avenues for listing as well. I signed up with Google, use FaceBook and also list on Pininterest. The more search engines you use, the easier your shop is to find. Another tip is to use all of your tags, this also helps buyers when searching. Good luck to all stores new and old on Etsy.
Congrats to everybody on their first sales. I've just opened up my store and waiting for my first etsy sale. I've sold a couple of items off etsy but waiting for my first sale of a wire wrapped piece. I'm so appreciative of all the advice here and in the forums. I'm still working on my shop but I know every day I learn something new. My wire supplier is away at the moment so I'm busting to make more items but learning to wait patiently.
I would work on your photos, they are quite dark and I don't think they show off your pieces as well as they could. I'd also edit your shop description - it's not clear what you sell which isn't ideal for SEO.
It took us a few months to get the first sale but then we kept getting them until just after Christmas. Has slowed now but that is expected. What wasn't expected was the sales of small cabs. I suppose other members were buying them to make gifts for Christmas. I hope it will start later again in this month.
I am sure we were getting sales because we were listing new items regularly. We are trying to keep things fresh with new products. Just trying to get the momentum going again after Christmas:)
I started my store properly in Dec and I've had a 2 sales. These were through friends and family. I have a Facebook page which I post new items on as well. I am also following a page called Handmade Etsy on FB and they offer a wall post of your store for $5. Will let everyone know how it goes, trying to get you stuff out there in the public eye seems a lot harder with so many other great sellers around. So hopefully my work pays off!!
Hi there, it took us a few months to have our first sale, but what excitement when we did. It has been slow but then we are only starting out and on a steep learning curve. I have been learning today about teams, so far so good, thanks for letting us join yours.
I have set up a couple of items at my shop, heavily discounted with free postage, for the express purpose of getting those first few sales that will give me precious feedback! I was wondering, if we had a thread that promoted this kind of thing, would that be helpful? I don't intend for there to be any obligation to purchase items from the thread, but if we saw something we were genuinely interested in, it could help boost our feedback as both sellers and buyers? Just a thought.
