What are you working on??????????

This morning I did a quick draw exercise. Gave myself 1 hour or less. I used acrylic and painted a portrait of a pig......I'm working on loosening up. I tend to get tight quickly.
Well this pig is loose and a bit interesting.
Have a painting floating around in my head that I hope to work on later. Will be gone for a while today. I'll use oil for the new one. I mostly paint alla prima.

I haven't had the time to sit down and paint.... :~(

My Uncle passed away in Florida last week, and that has put me behind in a lot of things. Thankfully, we don't have to travel there for a funeral service, because his body is being transported to Virginia, to be buried where he grew up. After the "dust" has died down, my plans are to paint some flowers (my favorite thing to paint). An artist friend gave me all of her watercolor books, because she doesn't work with that medium anymore, and I'm wanting to use some ideas from the books.

I have created and painted some watercolor cards recently, and that has helped to take some of the stress off of dealing with the death. Here is my recent card:

yes i have seen a big drop in views... and i still don't get SEO . it's like math, i just don't get it! ha!

today i listed a mixed media collage. once again it didn't go where i thought it would. I wanted to do an abstract in autumnal colors. First stage great! then i began adding to it & before i knew it, i didn't like it. So i quickly removed one of the layers of paint, and began adding glazes and paper & before i knew it i was loving the collage :)
in my limited experience, collage often saves the day for me. it's so forgiving and you can go in any direction at a whim. :)

There has definitely been a drop in sales. I never had problems with selling my art. Till another artist really trashed my work on another site. So, my drop might be due to that. On the other hand the it might be because, the economy is not back up to where it should be. The stats are proof of the, yet some still have good fortune to continue there sales. Though never the less, I will continue putting out new pieces. This nebula painting is making me want to play football with my head.

Amber, I just finished a seascape with some distant abstract like sailboats... hope your beachscape turns out the way you want!

I finished the autumn forest I started last week and have it drying on my easel... ehhh.... it turned into more of an abstract modern landscape! (Such is life). I'll start some mini abstract pieces this week. Quick and fun painting!

Not sure what to do. I want to finish what I was working on, yet the Critique some one gave me is messing with me. So ten attempts later with the critique given to and try to loosen my strokes up is not allowing me to make a realistic painting anymore. Maybe I should stick to oil pastels over watercolor. Hmm, any suggestion to help me get past this block. Cause the idea of a watercolor painting of a nebula is still what I want to do.

I think Pablo Picasso's art is shit. He's incredibly famous for it.

Point is, don't let what a handful of other say spoil your talent and imagination because even though some may think what you do is trash more think quite the opposite!

Clear your mind. Paint your nebula. You will be happy. That will pass on to others. You'll see.

On to my business.

I just finished an abstract cityscape and I'm moving on to a blue ocean landscape. Plus still tweaking my tags and titles. That's a never ending battle. They feel perfect and there's always someway you can improve them! Or, something Etsy changes that makes you have to improve them!

just finished the portrait commission for my boss of her at the seaside, started it in egg tempera and now have put on oil over it- I'm going to have to frame it without glass and give it to them while it's still wet - oops! It could be a tad underpainted too, but am scared to lose the facial similarity or liveliness of background if I put any more paint down. What do you guys think? it's the second one down here http://beatiefox.blogspot.co.uk/p/paint.html

Anyway, testing out things in little egg tempera and oil abstract paintings today has me a good deal more confidence in oils... have just read through a book last night called 'The Complete Guide To Painting and Drawing Techniques and Materials' - it was soooo useful... things that I just didn't get before about oil painting - about mediums, brushes, techniques and so on - were cleared up nicely. Phew! thoroughly recommend!

Hi, I'm new here. Only opened my shop this week. Thanks for having me!

I'm working currently in oil pastels mixed with oil medium. Something like an oil painting, but the look and texture is a bit different.

I don't have a studio and I have a space problem, and basically I started working this way because it is a lot less messy than oil.

@SK Cole - Looks good. Starting an Etsy shop is a lot of hard work. I'm still working away on mine (opened at the end of May). Glad to see you have your first sale already!

That is some kind of record your having better luck then I did. I just opened my shop on the seventh, but due to an etsy error. I have to wait till the sixteenth to fix it so I can receive payment on for my products.

Other then that I am working on a beachscape still right now. Then I will be working on a fall rainy scape.
