What are you working on??????????

This morning I did a quick draw exercise. Gave myself 1 hour or less. I used acrylic and painted a portrait of a pig......I'm working on loosening up. I tend to get tight quickly.
Well this pig is loose and a bit interesting.
Have a painting floating around in my head that I hope to work on later. Will be gone for a while today. I'll use oil for the new one. I mostly paint alla prima.
So what are you working on????????

Re: What are you working on??????????

Hi, I am currently working on a painting as a favor for a friend. It's a fly fishing painting from a really great photograph. I tried to prepare his expectations because I think it's beyond my skill level to reproduce but I'm willing to give it a shot. Rushing water, people and wood - ack. I paint a little on it, set it aside, paint, set aside.

Re: What are you working on??????????

I'm working on painting daily again. My husband broke his leg a couple of weeks ago and the ordeal has stolen all of my free time. Today I finally found a couple of hours and painted a little 6x6 inch still life. It felt great!

Re: What are you working on??????????

Maureen: I can sympathize. I'm currently working on a large acrylic painting of an autumn forest for a friend. I showed her a study already, and she was very happy with it, but I feel a little out of my depth. I love landscapes, but I often find them a bit overwhelming - especially on a large canvas. And any painting is harder when I have to fulfill a specific image someone has in mind... Here's hoping it turns out well!

Re: What are you working on??????????

sometimes we look at something for so long we can't see what direction we want to continue
maybe if someone does acrylic landscapes here you can ask in a convo if you can send them an image and see if someone can help.......
only things we can post here is ones already listed but in a convo you can send images from your own photo colllection.
just a thought

Re: What are you working on??????????

I just finished a small painting of two leopard gecko lizards for a relative who is 13 years old and fighting leukemia in the hospital. She will be in for about 2 months and is undergoing chemo.
She has a leopard gecko lizard who she loves and misses terribly while she is in the hospital. I did a small watercolor for her of two smiling geckos. I got a little flamboyant and painted a vine right on the mat, and added a glitter wash to the geckos backs. The background is ultramarine blue, and the lizards are yellow with dark brown spots, so they really pop. I studied images of them to refer to, and they are really very cute little creatures. When they open their mouths it looks like they are smiling...so I hope it cheers her up.
Please send Kate healing energy and prayers, and prayers for her parents also.

Re: What are you working on??????????

oh Sally what a sweet and kind thing to make a painting of a gecko for
Kate. I'll be glad to pray for her and her parents!

Today i'm doing a boring color chart. I've made squares with each of my paint colors all labeled with it's name and manufacturer. i'm hoping that this will eliminate those unhappy surprises of color change for me.

well, back to the chart... :)

Re: What are you working on??????????

SEO updates... and I so wanted to paint all this weekend. :(

Here's what I have floating around in my little brain for paintings.

1.) There's some construction going on outside my apartment... was going to paint that but liven it up a bit with a colourful sky like in this painting.
https://www.etsy.com/listing/105521345/original-acrylic-painting-on-stretched

2.) I have a commission for a fishing boat with a mountain bg that's due before Christmas so no hurry on that one. needs to be simple colours nothing extravagant.

3.) I have a photo of some lilac blossoms I would like to paint as a 5 x 7 miniature. My original lilac painting is becoming quite a successful little giclee print :D

That's it for now... after the SEO patching of course ;S\

Oh, and welcome to the team, everyone!

Re: What are you working on??????????

Hi guys,

today I started a new portrait in egg tempera for my boss's wife...I might end up completing it in oils just for the added weight it gives...i've a week to finish it, eep!

I also added a glaze to an oil painting of my dad that I've been working on as a study since january! -

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-k1yyooYZVhk/UEUPlEF8pmI/AAAAAAAAB_0/rcCDGfVxQxQ/s1600/DSC00590.JPG

I tried to paint a still life from observation today, and it totally failed! I really have to work on painting from life.

Anyway, great to hear what you are all up to, look forward to reading this thread

Re: What are you working on??????????

I have to make a large commissioned figure painting. I'm starting tomorrow and till I finish it I will be listing only photographs. I'm free to decide how the painting will finally look as long as there is a female and a window in it. I'd like to had been given some more specific details. That freedom is good and bad at the same time.

Re: What are you working on??????????

Hello All!

I am debating whether or not to start a forest with gold, yellow and red foliage... I sometimes really stress over the tiniest of details for far too long and these forest pieces always end up with lots of details! Ah, well... we'll see :)

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Re: What are you working on??????????

Ok, I am out of it. What does SEO stand for? I really should spend time to do a good color chart. I just finished a small leaves with branches and hope to get it shot and on site tomorrow. I paint so slowly, but I also am trying to paint most days. I want to get some bigger work done, but never seem to get to it. Working a non art job can interfere with being an artist :-)

Re: What are you working on??????????

finished an autumn landscape, i wanted a semi abstract but it didn't end up that way.... sometimes it just goes where it wants to! ha!

really was glad i did that color chart, it helped me a lot. i looked at the chart when selecting my colors and not the paint in the tube or on the palette.

Re: What are you working on??????????

Nancy: SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. It just means wording your tags and titles the best way possible to show up in keyword searches (through Etsy, Google, etc.). There are a number of threads about it around in the forums, if you're curious - good SEO can be a huge help in bringing in more traffic.

My landscape is coming along, slowly but surely. I'm trying not to get impatient with it, but sometimes I just want to wave a magic wand and have it done! :)

Re: What are you working on??????????

Thanks - oils are still a work in progress for me, hope to build up confidence with it soon!

continued today with a painting commission for my boss's wife's birthday - a small portrait of her - thought I'd do it in egg tempera but realised I didn't have enough time for that so am painting over the tempera slowly with oil glazes..again, quite a learning progress and I hope I can keep the liveliness of the layers up while making the paint thicker.

sometimes hard to gauge the point at which I should stop painting ..before fresh becomes laboured.. one day I'll recognise the turning point!

Re: What are you working on??????????

Beautiful fall leaves Nancy!
I'm working on packing a large painting. I wasn't sure if I wanted to add wire on the back but have decided that I would. I painted the sides so with the wire she could hang it right out of the box.

My daughter is visiting form college for a week or two so I've been taking a little break from painting. I feel like I'm getting behind though and it's only been about 5 days!

Re: What are you working on??????????

I have been thinking about painting more japanese style artwork. I really like the watercolor style and i wanted to recreate it in oil with a lot of color impasto style with some oil impasto medium that i made myself. (: let me know what you guys think about the idea
