Let's get some ideas
Maybe it would be good to keep our paintings of a single item (animal, flower, tree etc.) or still life of no more then 3 items.
It will be fun to see how different our paintings will be
I mentioned about painting a single rose......I have photos of single rose buds and will choose one to send to everyone if a rose is chosen. If your idea is chosen by the participants then you must send the photo to all of us.
So I'll start the suggestions and if you like the idea then add your vote to the number in the ( ).
If you have an idea then put your idea as #2 and after your idea put (1) since you are voting for you idea....ideas not chosen can be used for our next challenge. Make sure you copy & paste the list with your vote or your idea.

For this challenge, I'm leaning towards Hollyhock, or Morning Glory, like Ms. O'Keeffe, I prefer wild and/or cottage flowers.

I am looking forward to see what everyone comes up with!

Where is Sherischart? I sure hope she participates, since we are doing her suggestions and all. She's been putting out some beauties lately also. Everyone has except ME. I simply must start working on my shop....

Hi everyone, I hope you all enjoyed your holidays! Mine were fun, but very busy as usual! I got started on a new series of work I'm calling "flower arrangements" that I'm excited about, but I'm looking forward to having more time to work now that all the festivities are over.

I may try to do an imaginary flower for our January challenge. I saw a beautiful textiles show at the Metropolitan Museum of Art here on New Year's Eve and the floral designs were really over the top! I was kind off surprised by how many of the flowers seemed to go way beyond stylization and become totally fanciful. Very inspiring!

Also, here's an idea for a future challenge. What if we simply pick a predominant color to work with, like white? That way a lot of people can participate and it will be good for treasury making, too.

I actually like your idea of a predominant color. Though, I probably wouldn't choose white! Could be very interesting.

Susan @ SK Cole, your statement about motivation is exactly WHY I love challenges! It makes me figure out how to paint something that I would not choose to work on myself. I've learned quite a bit by participating in other challenges, as well as here.

Silly question, but I just want to make sure I understand this correctly. I can paint any flower, on any size canvas, in any color, and any medium that I choose? And then we post them on the last day of the month? Sorry if these questions are silly but this is my first time doing this so thanks for the patience.

Yes, any flower, any size, any medium. The key with this challenge is "O'Keefe" as in Georgia O'Keeffe style.
