Re: September -Team Discussion Thread

I started my pinterest page a while back and joined this team at that time. But, as you all know, keeping up with all the social media is a bit daunting. I've finally found a few minutes to introduce myself and start getting more involved with pinterest and this team.

I sell anything vintage, but my goal for the next year is to move out my lower end tchotchkes and move to higher end pottery, glass and much more jewelry.

So, I will be back more often and will do all I can to support other teammies!

Re: September -Team Discussion Thread

Hello everyone: I am working on expanding my AllToolsPrayerful shop to serve the international community. I have been working on getting things set up and feel that I am at a point now, where I can at least announce this to you. I just need to post some new Shop Policies, and a couple other details and I am ready to reach out to the World Wide Web. Hope to hear from some folks outside of the U.S. as well as my friends here in the U.S.

Re: September -Team Discussion Thread

I'm so proud to be an American and will never forget, either 9/11! What a blessing to have been born in this country. We sure have an important election coming up!

I'm having lunch with friends and playing bridge today, bet I'm the only one out there to be old enough to be a bridge player! We played constantly when I was in college...back in the olden day!

Sharon, I'm so bad that I don't usually include international rates in my listing, I have sold and shipped international if they convo me. I got badly burned on shipping rates a couple of times...sure can't guess like I do with US postage. Be sure they understand had long it can take...like a month. Australia always takes like 2 weeks.

Re: September -Team Discussion Thread

Hi Everyone, I am new to the team and Pinterest. I sell jewelry, knitted items and fiber art in my shop. I have become addicted quickly to Pinterest! LOL
I do have a few questions that I'm sure I'll find the answers to on this team.

~How do you know when your item has been pinned?
~How do you remove the price from the photo that you would like to pin to pinterest?

Thank so much and I'm happy to be a part of the team!

Re: September -Team Discussion Thread

Hello and welcome, everyone!
@Kim, delete the $ to remove the price. If you are repinning an pin with a price, delete it, then after it posts the $ will still show; just click edit on your repin and then save.

@Sharon, international shipping can be tricky. Make sure you have language in your policies about customs/fees being the buyer's responsibility. I don't automatically include a rate, but do have a line in my listings about being able to ship to many countries and to please ask. That way I can check the weight of the item(s) with packaging - every ounce counts in international shipping and factor in the increased handling cost to me as international packages have to be handed over the counter at the Post Office, not just dropped in the package drop.

In that same vein, even when shipping domestically, if you find you sell items individually, then you should be adding a reasonable amount to the price of each for the time and cost of packaging and shipping. If your items are often combined, then take those costs into account in your base shipping charge. What do you spend for labels, boxes, packing materials? All those are part of the cost of your item.

Hope everyone has shared their pinterest links and other social media links in our other team threads, so we can all follow you!

Re: September -Team Discussion Thread

And, I forgot, USPs has charts for international rates so you check what it will cost before giving a quote.

Re: September -Team Discussion Thread

KIm- you asked about how you can know if your items have been pinned. There is no way to know. If an item is pinned by someone you're following then you might see it in your "feed" when you are logged into pinterest, that way you can re-pin which gives it more views. Of course, depending on how many people you follow that can be "chancey".

If you post items to our thread for items to be pinned on the team boards I always try to "favorite" the item to let you know it's just been pinned.

Re: September -Team Discussion Thread

I would like to expand on the above:

Elise is correct that their is no notification that an item is pinned from your shop. I wish there was!

But, if you pin an item. You can then follow who REPINS it. Go to your boards, and click on an item it will say "1 repin" or "2 likes" on the item. So you can see it to an extent. I am not sure if these numbers represent the WHOLE pinning community or JUST the people following me. I hope just following me as my numbers are never very large. he he he... Also, if you pin the item your repins will show up on the left hand feed or in emails if you leave the notification setting turned on.

I just wanted to expand because at first, I was like YES you can. THen, once I read carefully I realized there were two ways to look at it. Pinned v Repinned.

Re: September -Team Discussion Thread

Sometimes, you can find people who pinned your item by searching for the name of your shop. Pinterest doesn't seem to do a complete search for anything, however, so this isn't a reliable method. But if they've pinned direct from etsy, there's a chance it will show up.

The repins must be the entire community b/c a number of my repins are "new" (to me anyway!) people; this is most noticeable on my pins unrelated to Etsy.

Re: September -Team Discussion Thread

Erin - thanks for that link, I'll check it out.

Guess that there are more ways to know an item has been pinned than I originally thought of myself. All of those take a little detective work. I'm doubting that many of my items are pinned via my shop than I know about.
