StemDesigns says

I get in the shower, close my eyes and envision the water washing away all the stress..weird, but after 20mins standing there i feel totally refreshed.

...would love to do that with headphones on! :)

When I get negative thoughts I simply tell myself Chante' stop it! I literally have a discussion with my thoughts and basically say I am not going to put up with it! It actually works and I overcame years of anxiety without any drugs or therapy. Not that those things are bad, they just never worked for me in the past.

Loving yourself is the best gift you can give to those around you. When you hate yourself you tend to take it out on those around you.

We are all a large masterpiece in progress.

I read this book about panic attacks and it made me understand that a lot of the problems that people often take on as their own are a mistake of immediately reacting to the situation, instead of choosing to respond in a way that is more beneficial to your psyche, the rest of the day and to benefit your general health. This takes time to practice and learn instead of the norm of reacting whenever you let someone push your buttons.

Re: Try This Instead! This thread is for tips on how to center yourself when you are feeling grumpy

I love this thread! Such a great welcome break from the monotony some threads produce!

I know for me it comes down to centering myself. Becoming aware of all that is and is not in the space I am currently in. Closing my eyes and breathing focusing on my breath and feeling but not recognizing my body cues. Feeling the coolness of the wind hitting my body.

Once we become present in the situation we present, we become present in the situation we create. We cannot be introduced nor taken from a situation unless we have already created the opportunity to enter it.

Long walks, shopping for treasures at Antique Malls, making ART and Yoga!
I use to run for 2 decades and that was just divine, not only did I focus on my breathing and (goal) distance, I really transitioned into a peaceful person. Now I have a bad knee and can't do it, but think of the process when I walk.

TheFyberStud says

that is like a puzzle, but i get it!

I think what you have going on inside you is the types of things you will encounter outside of you...

Like if you are full of anger, you will come in contact with many things that make you mad.

Oppositely if you are full of creativity and hope, you will find much of what you wish for will come true if you are constantly creating situations to make those things happen...

I love this thread too!

Thanks and welcome Fiber and Walter:::) - Troy

Haha, yes a puzzle indeed!

I agree with you. The one thing I have learned over the years is:

When you walk into a room be aware of the energy you are presenting to others.

Consciousness is one of the main problems we face as a societal whole. We have to be willing to be aware of what we are showing others indirectly. From that can only come positivity and peace.

Thanks for the welcome!

Re: Try This Instead! This thread is for tips on how to center yourself when you are feeling grumpy

WOW. I absolutely LOVE reading how everyone deals with feeling "off". I don't really have one single method, but I will say that taking a nice, hot bubble bath (with candles, of course) almost always calms me. Also, I actually love to 'bead' when I'm feeling down...it tends to center me and lift my spirits a bit, especially if I end up making something REALLY nice! My beading started as therapy for me, following hip replacement surgery. I was pretty much housebound and needed to occupy myself, constructively! I had these semi-precious beads that my Dad had given me (leftovers from his business) and so "JuJuBeads" began--without my even having a plan to start a business! It just grew out of this need to create & feel semi-productive during a time when I pretty much felt like ..... OK, I'll say it: CRRRRAP! So there you have it. (This is almost like our own little therapy sessions! Lol. Thanks!)

Re: Try This Instead! This thread is for tips on how to center yourself when you are feeling grumpy

Good question... :)
Usually when I'm GRRRR, the first step is:
1. I realize WHY I am grrrr?
2. I question myself: can i do anything to solve the problem or do I have suasion to it at all?
3. If I'm powerless (because I can't stop epidemics howsoever I'm nervous) I realize the situation in my mind, that I can't help, but if I peeve myself all day the situation won't be better for anybody.... so I STOP PEEVING MYSELF!
4. If I realize I can do anything about the problem (wether it's a very small element to solve the problem, for example in a family quarrel to alleviate the stress between 2 person) I DO THIS, and after that I DO EVERYTHING to be better for everyone...

In brief I play it in my mind and do or not do something to release stress... :)

When I have possibility I do my favourite yoga asanas. :D
