in fact, to make sure the "solution" part doesn't include anything else, you might look up what's used with oxidizing tin.

Morning. I have a customer who can't picture a bracelet she designed. She wrote, asking for a certain modification to the bracelet, I said "sure" and told her how I'd accomplish it and now she needs a sketch. How can she not be able to picture it...it was her idea. And I'm not a sketcher. I should just make it and take a photo. But then she won't like it and it will be a whole big mess.

Ben has the water turned off. Doing something to our water heater. He installed it when he was a baby plumber and it's not right. It finally failed this am and it's rainy anyway so I guess today's the day. Unless you need a shower...then you're out of luck. :)

Really, tin-ox = hydrochloric acid? We have tons of that in the lab. :)

Drill broke off in a thick piece of silver. Guess it's not my drilling day. I hope that alum does its work quickly, I want to get this piece finished.

i figured you would esme. you have to dilute it. might try with 25% or something to start with? what i found was the first dipping was disappointing. it works better after a few dippings. changes the solution of the acid somehow. not just that it works better on the same piece, but on subsequent pieces also.

I was thinking I had some Black Max around and that it had hydrochloric Acid in it.

On the label it says: "Keep out of reach of children....and uninformed adults."
I used it once to oxidize a beach stone piece and noticed it kind of etched the stone. Not what I'd planned, but i actually liked the effect. Nasty strong stuff, I'd think. I also think I qualify as an "uninformed adult"

Sure is handy to have a plumber around the house.

It's only 81 out today but humid as all get out. I stood in the driveway for about 5 minutes talking about my Mini Cooper with the FedEx guy (yeah, it tends to be a conversation piece) and I was drenched with sweat. Embarassing. Thank goodness for air conditioning. I'll stay in and clean and cook for this family brunch I am hosting tomorrow.
I'd rather be working on my next fork tine bracelet....already have a buyer waiting.

It's nice to have a plumber around except on SATURDAY when the supply houses are closed and the water heater is *actually* broken. And you haven't had a shower. So, no showering for me this weekend. Goodie. He doesn't know what's wrong with it, it's a mystery. He will spend all weekend tinkering with it and get it to work eventually but, I'd like a shower.

The kids have been playing in their rooms for hours now. HOURS. It's weird. Their rooms look like raccoons live there but, hey, it's been quiet.
