SOS on Soldering

I have tried for over a week to get my 16g pendant backplate to get hot enough so solder will flow and attach a bail.........the solder never attaches a tiny bit.....but the bail.....solder flows easily (22g).......how can I heat this 16 g without burning everything else up.......should I have cut the bail (S-Hook) on back out of 16g too?

A lot of depends on details, but you might try melting solder onto the bail first, get in in position, and heat mainly the bezel/base part first, let the heat move from there to the bail.

But there are any number of specific details that may need another approach. Do feel free to pop your question into the chat thread, it may get overlooked here.
