Re: October, Now Open for Chat

It started on my August bill. Here's what it looks like for Aug on my bill:

Sales Tax Fees:+$4.62

Re: October, Now Open for Chat

Terri...did you have in-state sales? I know Etsy will collect sales tax for in-state transactions.

Re: October, Now Open for Chat

I don't see that on any of mine. I would request a call and or email Etsy and also call your state person. This sounds too important to ask non Florida team mates and not get a definitive answer

Re: October, Now Open for Chat

Ah, ok.
So etsy has to collect sales for other states tax right?
If it’s via credit card, since they are handling it, they extract it on their end.
Well what if they pay via pay pal?
Looks like you collect all of the payment including the tax, and then etsy subtracts it (as a fee) 🙄

Seems like a clunky way to do it 🙄

That will be interesting once tax time comes around.

You can see what order the “tax fee” was taken from by scrolling down and clicking on the order.

Re: October, Now Open for Chat

Sorry about that clunky sentence up there. ‘Etsy has to collect sales tax from certain states:

Looks like I had one in september. A sale to PA via PayPal.

To bad I can’t restrict those states from paying with PayPal just avoid that annoyance 🤔

Re: October, Now Open for Chat

You can find it here:
https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000343968?flash_digest=49a7483c885e6234c587b2ce21577334fa...

Purchases via Paypal
If a buyer in one of the states mentioned in this article purchases the order via PayPal, Etsy will supply the seller with the sales tax as a part of the payment. Then Etsy will net the sales tax from your Payment account so that we can remit the tax to the relevant state.
The sales tax will be included in the order information, and the fee for the sales tax will be on your Payment account—including the relevant order number. The fee will be summed in the subcategory in your fee summary under Sales Tax Fees.

Re: October, Now Open for Chat

I think I figured it out. I have paypal separate. Etsy collects taxes for Washington State and Pennsylvania and maybe one other now. With sales through Etsy, the tax is collected and it doesn't show on your bill. I had a sale to Washington State and it was paid through paypal. The tax was $4.62 and so because they can't collect from paypal, they kindly put it on my bill.

I hate that I have to pay credit card processing fees for taxes collected for another state. I think it stinks.

Re: October, Now Open for Chat

Good morning.
Need to get up soon. Have an Empty Bowls luncheon today and I have to remake a pair of ears since I've mislaid the pair I made Thursday. As soon as I make them, the original will show up. But, it's OK, I'll have something for my December show.

Kit - I’d have to ask St. Anthony for help before I’d make another pair.

Time for a shower and lunch. My tummy thinks my throats been cut.

Still have snow CG? Did I tell everyone I saw the movie White Boy Rick? Good true story and the ending isn't the final ending - there's more story even now.

Meanwhile, we're looking at another storm tracking through here. Nothing serious, but there are places that do not need the rain.

Geez, I just looked at the forecast track and Michael will go through the panhandle and then try to exit back to the Atlantic through North and South Carolina. They do not need that!!

We're getting a lot of rain here in Kansas. Flood watches though Wednesday. We just had flooding issue a few weeks ago. Water is still up in lakes and rivers. We need to dry out a little more.

Re: October, Now Open for Chat

Sorry about all the rain and storms. :(

We've had the most glorious fall weather this weekend. The light through the trees is so amazing. The air is crisp but the sun still warms. There are still mushrooms in the forest and apples on the trees, and the foliage is so pretty this year.

Morning.

60 mph winds predicted for NC on Thursday. That's still tropical storm level. Good times, y'all. 'Cause we need two more days of rain - although it has been mostly dry since Florence hit. That will help.

Good morning.
Fun trip planned this afternoon. Lunch at an old steakhouse in a tiny town, then a trip to a group of reconstructed houses from the 1860s to 1880s. Unfortunately, we're supposed to get some rain this afternoon, hope it's not heavy.

Morning!

No excitement here, John's daughter drove down yesterday from NYC for an early birthday dinner with us last night. She's driving back today so after she leaves I have got orders to work on. For whatever reason, Columbus Day always escapes me as a federal holiday
