Re: Falling into October with the Chatty Metalsmiths

We've had 4 as well. Since we only had one last year, that's pretty good.

No gremlins here. We never get kids. Too many acres between houses, but I do always buy my favorite candy.

Lots of kids, good costumes!

Dianna I'm guessing you are looking at the raw tanzanites like rose cuts? Yes they will fracture, chip and otherwise give you a fit... Or if you're lucky, nothing will happen and they will be fine. It's a soft stone and with inclusions, anything can happen. I pay about $2-3 a carat at gem shows if that's any help. Good tanzanite will be way more expensive.

Re: Falling into October with the Chatty Metalsmiths

Thanks, Pennee! Terri gave me some great advice, but also mentioned that you would be very knowledgeable about Tanzanite.

I am now leaning with getting some Tanzanite crystals, cheaper, and less painful if I break one.

My new pendant is done. Well, almost, I'm still obsessing over the finish. It's funny, this pendant was inspired by my cancelled custom order. I changed the design, and made something I like better, without any pricing constraints. It will be interesting to see if the cancelled order buyer comments on this piece. Is it evil that I want the buyer to see what they missed out on? :)

It'll be interesting to see if she reacts Dianna. Is that the pendant you posted earlier? I love that one.

At work. Hedda was sad when I left her at daycare. Being absent so often doesn't help her getting used to it..

I love tanzanite. Such a beautiful color. Whenever I'm worried about a stone being fragile I use fine silver to set it. Or high karat gold. It usually works. Those slices can be super fragile though.

Good morning.

I hope you're feeling better Esme. Adjusting to daycare can be hard for the little ones but it's good experience. Sorry she's having a rough time of it.

I'm going to have to hunt down Dianna's pendant now.

Re: Falling into October with the Chatty Metalsmiths

Good morning. I'm beginning to feel,as if I live in the tropics. Another day in the 80s.

Good party last night and we had lots of trick or treaters. We ran out of candy, and we had 10 bags. M dressed up,in his cavalry uniform, left over from Texas history lectures. I went as a pumpkin.

Think I'm going to skip class. Back is killing me, and an hour and a half in the carea probably won't help it.
