Re: The November Chat

Happy November everyone! We're entering the darkness here in Sweden.

My lower rib area on the left side hurts. I think it's cough-inflicted. Ouch.

Jen, if you drop by today...hope the family trip to the funeral wasn't too difficult.
Hope you had some good family support.
Wondering if you think Catan's might be a good place for me to get ribbon for my boxes? Or am I better off buying in bulk online?

Re: The November Chat

yup- only place I have ever seen it. I have never been a fan of serrated- it never wants to lay right for me no matter how much I burnish it and 14k gold doesn't play nice anyhow

Re: The November Chat

I have never liked the serrated wire except to embed the fine silver stuff in metal clay upside down, the serrations help,

Re: The November Chat

Had to do a major repair job on one of my bracelets yesterday.
It fell off while my customer was riding on a motorcycle. She found it many hours later in the middle of the highway.
😜
Needless to say, the sea glass charm on it was long gone. The silver chains were really eaten up, and I had to do a major sanding job to make the thing wearable again.
After a good bit of work it actually looks pretty good now. I'm
not charging her, because she claims the clasp was faulty, which apparently was the case.
It has a new and improved clasp now. Hopefully this time it will stay on her wrist where belongs!

Re: The November Chat

I like the serrated bezel and have an easier time getting them to lay down on some stones like gallery wire does only gallery wire tends to be too fussy for some designs. I was thinking I want to do the Opal in gold bezel but all I have is 1/8 tall gold plain and without the serrated edge I don't think it's tall enough. 3/16 would be too tall and I'd hate to cut down gold bezel.

Might have to settle with silver bezel and some gold accents... Thinking out loud.

Re: The November Chat

Hi guys,
We ended up staying at a hotel Saturday night. Drove down, visited with family. I got absolutely NO sleep in the hotel. Went to the funeral, I was sad that many were absent, and I was the only one that brought kids. That kinda pissed me off actually. Grandma had 16 grandkids, and 15 great-grandkids. Half of the grandkids were there, and only my great grand kids. But, having my sweet little smiling baby was super helpful. We drove home after and Ayla cried the whole way home. Got home and fell asleep for a bit, then took the kids trick or treating. We live in one of the best trick-or-treat neighborhoods. People go all out with decorating, and handing out treats fro both kids and dogs (and shots for the parents) All the city kids get dropped off by the car loads here. It's so crowded. We didn't hand out this year because we both walked with the kids. I was in a foul mood, but managed to enjoy myself a bit. Today I will rest.

Re: The November Chat

When I use the tall gold bezel, instead of cutting down the gold, I raise up the stone.

I had a bunch of cheap tanzanite. I use 22k gold bezel for the softens and color. Had no trouble setting them.

Re: The November Chat

That sounds like it was almost more work than making it from scratch Susan, What was wrong with the clasp?
