I was going about 45 and I'm not sure about him. He came out of a side road, paused a bit, them seemed to lose his head and gunned it right as I drew level with him.
Oh no Kat! I JUST sent you a convo and now read this. I had no idea! I am so sorry sweetie. I hope you won't be sore tomorrow. Thank you for what you said BTW.
My uncle passed away last night. He had cancer and was very lonely and elderly and I am glad he didn't linger. I will miss him though.
Erin, do you have an example of those soap resellers? I'd like to see. I haven't looked at soap in a while on Etsy. Sad to hear it doesn't work anymore. I was happy to have my soap shop before my jewelry shop took off, and then it got too busy to manage both. Maybe in the future you can pick it up again.
sorry to hear about your uncle Debbie. And glad to know that you received your massage Kat.
Nice clear fall day here today. but I woke after horrible dreams to what sounded like duck hunters using cannons.
Not sure what will be left of those poor waterfowl, but not much from the sound of the artillery being used.
<rant>
I HATE living here during hunting season. It brings out the worst in me. I reject the idea that its their right to shatter my peace and quiet so that they can feel powerful and shoot a duck with a long range rifle. Sorry to all the hunters on the thread, but it sucks when you have to hear it every. single. morning. and every. single. sunset. for the whole season, season after season, echoing through the trees and sending our dogs into a quivering mess.
Sitting in my clean studio and unmotivated to work. My piece that I finally found yesterday was a bit mangled so I need to work on that before I finish the piece I started yesterday.
So glad you're ok Kat.
Wendy. We are a hunting family, but yes, I would hate to hear the noise every day of the season. We only hunt for food, not for sport. I'm Osage and grew up respecting nature and living in balance with the world. I hate to see how some people hunt today.
I've known Gayle for years - how did I NOT know you were Osage? Shame on me! Very cool tidbit.
Hunting doesn't bother me, but I have to say, hearing the gunfire that close to my home would make me nervous. Everyone in my family are responsible and careful gun owners. I trust them - other people, not so much.
Hunting for food is what it is. Certainly better than factory farming. I grew up on hunted meats. I don't have issues with it for sustenance assuming people are respectful and honoring in their taking of the animal. sadly many are not.
the sound is simply just horribly jarring at dawn.
Not sure you all remember the story of grouse season up here from a few years ago. We were riding around the north country wildlife and bird watching. and came accross a very macabre scene. grouse hunters shot a bunch of grouse and then propped their dead carcasses up on beer cans like little death puppets sitting around a tiny fake campfire. Seriously sick. and then we have the out the pickup window "hunters". totally illegal but common behavior. and then the "hunter" from last year strolling through my favorite conservation property where hunting is not allowed. When I noted to him that he is in a no hunting zone he snarkily said... gee I guess its good that I didnt kill anything.
I have a very bad taste in my mouth from most hunters that I encounter here. It didn't used to be this way.
Wendy, that is sick. Why do people do that kind of thing?
I've killed a couple of animals for food (yeah, little city girl did it and gutted them too). To be honest, I find it horrible but I think it is an important lesson for us, to know what we eat and remember the cost behind it. But to kill wantonly and to make a mockery of it? That both boils and chills my blood.
