I forgot to update you guys but we got my father home from the hospital on Friday. He will need some daily shots for a few days, but a nurse will visit to give those and check up on things.
And a funny story about my headstrong father. When my mother convinced him to go to the emergency room and have someone look at it, they went to their usual hospital. However, all the beds in that hospital were full, so when the doctor asked for him stay, they had to find a bed in a different hospital. After way too many hours, finally a place was found, about 20 minutes drive away.
So, my father gets up and says, "ok, let's take a cab." Cue horrified doctor. Nope, he must be transferred in an ambulance. And told him to get back on that bed since they were going to roll him down to the garage. No way my father was going to be treated like an invalid (his words) and he was going to take a cab, since it would be easier and faster.
After some negotiation, it was decided that my father would have to go by ambulance but that he could walk down to it, instead of being wheeled in his bed.
Of course, when they arrive at the other hospital, there is a wheelchair waiting for him. Grumble, grumble, grumble and he walks out of the ambulance into the hospital, ignoring the chair.
Sure, dad, go ahead.
