Hi all! There have been member concerns about the Favathon game actually hurting our shops. This is what I learned from one member, which lines up with comments I've seen in the larger Etsy forum:
"There is this thing called "bounce time", which means that if someone comes to your shop (in this case, visits one of your listings) and likes something (or just views it) and then goes away fast, and then there is no sale, then the algorithm will think your shop/items are not good enough and will move you down in the search results."
Thank you for bringing this up, we'd love to hear more thoughts below.
Yes, that has happened to me before. I found that clearing my Google history in the settings helps resolve the issue. After doing that, I can post again without any problems. It’s frustrating, but this workaround seems to do the trick for me.
Thanks Natali for your answer, I tried to post by logging in incognito window (which has no browsing history) but it didn't work, I'll try as you say, see what happens.
When I can't post a message, I change something in it so it's not the same text. For example, I add a paragraph. And after that I can publish it again.
I have noticed that I will get that message when I try to post "done" so I post "complete" or something similar instead and it will let me post.
It's spam detection from the forum, when you post the same thing more than twice such as Done or copy the same links and repost in other threads.
To avoid the error, always change the text, maybe add space or something like -- or just post other links. Don't just copy and paste the same links over and over.
Just add a letter to the end of what you've put, if you're putting "DTH" just add a H or something

I too started getting more sales since playing this game, so I'll continue

My shop has been on vacation for over a year. When I got it back up and started adding new products, there were almost no organic views. That's when I started playing games for likes and product views and keeping track of statistics. When the number of product views increases and the number of likes for this product increases, and the number of likes is slightly less than or equal to the number of views, then the number of organic views also increases.
I also know that a large number of views without likes or purchases from Pinterest and other social networks can harm the store. But I think that viewing a product with a like is perceived by the algorithm better than just a quick view. Likes or views alone are not very effective in my case, but combined likes with views, it has given my products a good rating, so I will continue this game.
Perhaps we should try not to leave the page quickly, but leave it open for 10-15 seconds, as when viewing, so that these likes are perceived more organically.
I would definately agree with that. I think it would be beneficial to leave the tabs open for a longer period of time. I will open 5-10 links at once and wait for them all to load fully before favoriting it. Not sure if that is a long enough time for it to be open, but it can't hurt.

I will continue this game because it keeps me going and I like this routine! But I am not getting any sale, so not sure whether this game is helping or not.
