1. The thread does not require that we view back and/or fave 2. It really messes up our conversion rate (ie, the numbers of clicks an item gets before it turns into a sale). Particularly in a thread as big as this one, we would get a lot of views to the item and no sales from it and that really hurts our rating both with Etsy and other external SEOs.
