Artfire?

have any of you sold on artfire? Is it easier to sell paintings/prints there than on etsy?
I worry about having a one of a kind painting listed in two locations..I don't want to risk someone purchasing a painting on one site and then someone else buying it on the other before I have a chance to delete the listing.

I had A shop on artfire, but no sales in over 4 months .I also sell on 2 websites apart etsy, but it never happened not to have time to remove a sold listing.

Re: Artfire?

I did try selling on Artfire when they had free accounts but nothing ever happened. No sales of my art :o( I know of one artist who likes Artfire very much and she seems to have quite a lot of sales there.

I also sell on Folksy which is an online outlet like Etsy but for artists and crafters in the UK. I have put several paintings on both sites at the same time but when they sell (usually on Etsy) I have to dash off and remove the painting from the other site. It's a nuisance and I often forget. Not to mention it's expensive to list on Folksy (24 pence/38 US cents) and I'm loosing the listing fee every time I have to remove a painting. I have never had two people buy the same painting before I removed it from the other venue though :o)

Re: Artfire?

I have an Artfire shop, but have never made a sale from there. I keep it open because (for some reason) I get more views over on Artfire than I get on Etsy. So, I don't know what is up with that,,,,but I hope it means sales some day. IF I can just be patient. I think a lot of the sales problems are not so much the site, but the times.

Re: Artfire?

I have an artfire shop. Most of my things are there right now, and I get more views there, but the amount of sales are about the same (low on both, I'm afraid) I got in on the 5.95 deal, so I don't want to lose that, but I am thinking about putting more things back on etsy.
Artfire is be better as far as teaching marketing skills.

Re: Artfire?

hmm...sounds like artfire is not worth it....
personally I've also tried selling prints on imagekind and artistrising. I sold two prints to a friend from imagekind and that's it. nothing from artistrising.

Re: Artfire?

I've had my work on Imagekind for a long time and have sold only three greeting cards there.........I do better on Fine Art America, occasionally selling a print, which nets about 25 or 30 dollars, with no work for me to do! They make the prints and send it to the customer. I am finding etsy very slow, but am still making enough sales to stick with it. My best venue online is Zazzle!! It's also the most fun! I think I've been to the artrising site several times but can't even remember if I have an account there.....nothing has ever come of it.

Re: Artfire?

When you use Fine Art America, how do you handle signatures? Do people not care if the image is signed or not? I always wonder about that...or do you use a digital signature?? I always thought people expected a signature on a piece. Do people not really care? Fine Art America sounds like a great way to do it.

Congratulations on success with Zazzle......it seems impossible to stand out in the crowd over there. Congratulations on doing it!!

Re: Artfire?

We tried artfire with our other shop but just couldn't get on with it as a platform, found it so cumbersome to use compared to its competition we gave up, that and it covered the same potential audience as our other outlets.

Whatever you choose to do, we wish you luck :)
