Keep Craft Wire From Tarnishing?

I was wondering, would spraying jewelry with a high-gloss clear coat be a good way to keep the wire from tarnishing? I saw some people suggest nail polish, but I'm afraid it would glob up and not look good.

Until recently i didn't even know non-tarnish wire existed. When I can afford new materials, I'll surely go that way, but for now I want to use all the wire I already have, but I don't want it to tarnish. I do card all my jewelry, wrap it in plastic wrap and seal it in a container after it's made until it ships and I understand this is a good practice to keep my work in best condition, but still the tarnish can be an issue.

Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you.

Re: Keep Craft Wire From Tarnishing?

well... My mom used to keep a piece of chalk in her jewelry box to help with tarnishing. maybe that might help a little? you could google more on it if you'd like, but I think it mainly absorbs moisture...
