The Crazies Secret Santa Open To One And All.......Sign Up Thread

Hello everyone,

It’s that time of year again; time to sign up for secret Santa. This year it will be open to all who would like to join.

How do I join?
Simply copy and paste the list and add your name (shop) to it. After you have added your name to the list here please convo me with your mailing address.

Is this going to be handmade only?
This secret Santa is going to be handmade and some store bought if you want. The MAIN gift must be either handmade by you or purchased handmade. You may add in store bought stuff to your gift if you like.

Is there a price limit?
This area is tricky since there are those who like to be generous, so I will say that the cap should be around $20, no less than this. If you would like to give a gift that is more than this amount that is fine just not lower.

How will my partner know what I like/need and don’t like/need?
There are a few ways to do this. First list all of that info here in this thread and it’s highly recommended that you have some items in your favorites you would like. This would mean not having your favorites private. Please make sure to list allergies and things like this as well.

How will I know who to send to?
After the sign up deadline I will send you a convo with the person’s name and address you will be sending to.

Is there a deadline to sign up?
YES, the deadline for sign-ups is Oct. 15th. If there should be an odd amount of sign-ups either myself or anyone who would like to volunteer to take on two partners will complete the list.

Is there a deadline to ship the gift?
YES, the deadline to ship out will be Dec 1st. This should give everyone enough time to put their gift together and get it out so we can put it under our trees for Christmas.

What if I do not celebrate Christmas?
If you do not celebrate Christmas I would suggest making that clear in your post of likes and dislikes. We are open to all.

How should I address my package?
I have done many secret swaps and secret santas and what has worked best for me is putting the receivers address as both the send to and shipped from. It is very important that you give me the correct address and that packages are address correctly if this is to work.

What if I want the seller I am buying from to ship for me?
This is fine as long as you specify not to reveal who sent it. Have them put a note saying “from your secret santa” and ask them if they can address it as stated above. Most sellers don’t have a problem doing it but make sure to ask first.

When will I know who sent me my gift?
After Christmas I will post a list of who had who as their partner. I think not knowing till after gifts are opened would make it more special.

We may need to convo people again since it looks like some may have totally forgotten about this thread and the exchange.

I love doing these things but cannot deal with people who are not responsible.....I understand life gets in the way but at least contact someone and let them know.

I'm sorry Leslie but it's not about my standards it's about being responbile when you decide to take on an obligation and this was an obligation. One of the reasons we decided to do it so early was to give people enough time so it would not get in the way of the holidays.

Life may get in the way but that does not mean that we neglect our shops and if we see that life is getting in the way of our shops we either close the for a period of time till we can come back or put them on vacation. I look at this in the same way. If a person could not hold up to their part we were more than willing to take over....it was even posted in the FAQ at the start when people were signing up and we sent out reminder convos, which I did not hear back from everyone but their shops were open and they were selling, so one min to respond to a convo about this obligation, I do not think, was asking too much.

Sorry but as one of the leaders of this it does reflect on me and it reflects on the other leaders and the group.
