If anyone has any problems or questions then please feel free to reach out here. And I hope if anyone knows anything that would be useful then please comment.
I'd like to follow more members on Instagram, we should have an Instagram thread here so we can follow each other and comment on each others photos. I've noticed that many sales happen with Items I post there.
Bonjour all. Query from this end. In doing the Blitzes I noticed that sometimes when I enter a shop name in the search I am taken directly to the shop. In other instances I am given a selection of items and asked if I meant 'the shop name'.
Any ideas why there is a difference?
I would love if when my shop name is typed in people went directly to my shop and not random listings.
I can tell it isn't about sales as I started looking at which ones went direct and which ones didn't. Nor is it related to longevity.
Alycea - I have the exact question. My only guess (and this is a guess) is that those of us who use their shop name in a tag get a list of all items that have that tag but those who don't go to shop - maybe???
A question for all who have a B&M shop presence ...
I'm doing a tear down and am wondering if it is better to mix items or keep them like to like. Such as all mexican together, all Scandinavian, all figural rings, all gemstone rings etc.
Opinions from those who are shoppers but don't have a shop are very welcome as it's shoppers I am trying to reach. No sales here for a week so I'm pushing my shop.
Alycea - is your duck in the profile a Khaki Campbell? How is she in the garden. We just got 10 of them in June and they are the sweetest tempered little fellows!
Not sure if anyone looks at this thread or not, but here goes anyway. Does anyone have any hints for listing items faster than I am currently doing. It seems like by the time I take/edit pictures then download to my computer, then create a listing with description, tags, price, etc. it takes me about an hour for each item. Is this normal or is there a faster way that I am just not aware of. Appreciate any input.
You may already do this but I often copy a listing that is similar to (or the same) as what I am about to list eg. copy a vintage bracelet listing so I can list another bracelet without having to fill in all the boxes like section, type, tags etc). Then I just edit the listing to suit the new item's particular features.
I also find it takes a while to do listings - some more than others, especially if there is a lot of research involved and hallmarks or maker's marks to identify.
I do not download my pics to my computer. I take them on my iphone - you need to use an iphone 7 or newer because if you don't, the pics won't be clear enough. I have a friend who helps me take some pics with her iphone 6 and they really aren't as crisp/clear (you can tell the difference in my lisings).
All I do it take the pics, directly load them onto my Etsy listing and voice dictate the needed info into the form. I will use my PC to fill in any other info - such as detailed descriptions, etc.
This is WAY faster that taking pics and downloading to your computer.
I take the photos with my iphone and then edit them in photoshop on the phone to lighten the backgrounds a little and crop them. Not sure which Iphone I have. I also have a mini ipad which I Think takes clearer photos but not sure.
I then copy an older listing and update with photos, tags, description.
I tend to do the photography as a separate chore and save the edited items into a folder on my iphone. I then have to keep the photographed jewelry somewhere separate until it can merge with the shop jewelry. You run several filing systems - photos which you can delete once your listings are up and running, jewelry to sell, jewelry to describe, jewelry to photograph.
So I dedicate maybe an afternoon or an hour to the photography and filing the photos on my phone. Then I usually create my listings when I want to later on. I used to create them as drafts but that took a lot of time, plus I prefer to choose the items I am listing as I do it. Reminds me of that card game where you have to match pairs, but in my case one of the pair is a photo!!
I have had a really hard year. I already have several auto-immune disorders, one of which has been responsible for 3 mild heart attacks, and then I injured my back and have a slipped disc, plus I take care of my 94 year old mom. I used to get regular sales, but since Etsy has done their re-organizing, I have not made one single sale in a month, which has not happened since my first year.I really have done this for fun and the little bit of extra income has been nice, but I can’t afford the inflated fees and lack of exposure without paying, especially since I am paying and still no sales. So I will either just close up and try another venue, or only leave my more expensive items up and yard sale the rest. I’ve had fun these last 6 years but I am disabled and tired. I haven’t been able to participate in team activities as I would like over the last year or so, but still, it is sad to say goodbye to all my teamies.
Deborah, Sorry to hear about your illnesses. I have a good friend that has rheumatoid arthritis, which I understand is an auto immune disorder. She has some very bad days and even months. At times, her suffering is almost unbearable. It has taken a toll on her quality of life. Sending you prayer and blessings.
Hi Deborah, I hope enough time has passed since you wrote in to find you in better straights and the lull a temporary one. We would all miss you if you decided to go!
In your shop manager, choose marketing from the pull down menu, then click on sales and coupons. When you click on it, you'll notice a black box in the upper right-hand corner that says "+ New special offer" and when you click on it, it gives you the choice of running a sale or setting up a coupon. Choose the sale option and decide what percentage off you'd like to offer. Once that's in, the tool will allow you to pick and choose between any or all listings you'd like to put on sale and for how long. Once you're through, the tool will automatically figure the sale price and display the original price crossed through. I hope this helps!!
