Stripe or Paypal?

Do you have to choose one or can you use both?

Re: Stripe or Paypal?

Danielle - I currently only have Paypal, but I have been considering setting up a Stripe account also. If your looking at other selling venues, some are only Stripe so it might be useful to have.

I have both and I noticed most of my sales are paid by Stripe.

Re: Stripe or Paypal?

I thought I read someplace that if you have stripe it will not go to paypal but when I went to find it I couldn't. I'll look again. It was something from Stripe's website.

Re: Stripe or Paypal?

Here it is
https://help.tictail.com/hc/en-us/articles/205372042
"Here are the most important new features:

1. When you have Stripe, the credit card option will be pre-selected by default. It will replace the PayPal credit card option."
I can't decide if I should have paypal only.

So, stripe is like EP . They deposit into your bank account.

Re: Stripe or Paypal?

From what I’ve read previously about Stripe, they pay into your bank account every two weeks.
I suppose if you have them both then only buyers who have Paypal accounts (or know of paypal) will purchase through Paypal and the rest will go through Stripe.
Something to think about.

Re: Stripe or Paypal?

That is interesting, I have both, I don't really understand this and wonder if it applies to the market place sales. "1. When you have Stripe, the credit card option will be pre-selected by default. It will replace the PayPal credit card option."

I will have to put products in my cart and see how it looks. I have always got Paypal sales, all my customers chose PP when my acct was active before ... none yet since I opened back up.

I think I will stick with paypal for my new store. I like those instant funds a lot!

Re: Stripe or Paypal?

Ruthie I don’t have a Stripe account so I don’t know how it works. I can remove paypal by clicking the cross to remove my email. If there isn’t something similar for Stripe then I think you will have to ask TT support.

Re: Stripe or Paypal?

Ah Julie, thanks! That answered my question perfectly! Yes I have that for Paypal and Stripe. Glad it is that simple! Thank you.

I am so fine with just Paypal - I saw someone in the E forums maybe saying stripe deposited money every 2 weeks or something crazy, so I think I will delete it.

Re: Stripe or Paypal?

Oh good! Glad that is all it takes.

I enquired last year from a long time Etsy seller who uses Stripe on another venue, they said they feel it is a good payment option. I'm sure they said it deposites every 2 weeks, but the Stripe site would probably tell you more.

Re: Stripe or Paypal?

I think it may depend on the number of sales.

I think in the beginning, it is slow, but once you are established, it becomes quicker.
This last sale was within 3 days.

I understand that Paypal you have your money NOW.
I am looking at using both, Paypal and Stripe options, until I finally have regular sales and then decide to drop Stripe.

I also use Stripe on eCrater shops and I get sales using Stripe over there.
