It seems like there should be a single thread where team members could just gather and catch up with eachother about nothing in particular.  It's nice to have other threads to discuss a particular topic, but would also be nice to have a thread where you could go to see who's around at that moment.

You know, like a never-ending, continuously running thread.

Thoughts?

@Darcy777  Was this Lasagna a prepackaged frozen meal? If it tasted off I'd be leary of it.

    What would happen if you ventured out to get a closer look at the butterflies? Sure would love to see something like that.

Are all of you that live on the West Coast doing alright? The fire that is getting so close to  South Lake Tahoe looks bad and scary.

for those of us who are not familiar with the geography of Calif., I wish they would quit " fire names" and just report the fires by saying - 45 miles East of Sacremento. - moving SW to ?.

 @collecteddust

It's very depressing. I'm nowhere near the fires but Lake Tahoe is one of Calif. jewels. Tears have been shed.

We used to go camping there as kids , As adults, a bunch of of would rent a cabin and go there.

My neighbors, a family of three and their cat, told me last week they were renting out their house and moving there for awhile.

This was before the fires got close and people were evac-ed.

Today their tenant moved in. The wife and son were in tahoe  and were stuck in gridlock for 4 hours to get out. So it took 8 hrs to get home ( where i live).

They put their cat in a pet hotel near tahoe cause they figured they'd be back there in a few days and didn't want to traumatize poor kitty going back and forth. Its about 4 hr drive from here.

I hope they don't lose the place in Tahoe, although they are renting but they just finished moving their stuff up there!

Its a very emotional time to see the fire creeping up to the homes and casinos and ski resorts.

@Lionfishvintage. I feel badly for your neighbors. OMG, they must be at their wits end with worry about now and their future.

The news is full of the progress of these dam* fires and now the aftermath of Ida. I'll take my heat wave any day over all that. I send up quick prayers every time the news gives us all updates. I wish I could just 'not listen' but that is difficult to do. It would seem like I'm turning my back on those in perils way.

Sometimes it crosses my mind that He is trying to cleanse the world of humans so He can do a do-over.

Crossed my mind too Mary. Between the virus and the climate change repercussions... @SewNSewSister

@Lionfishvintage So very sad. All of it! So are your friends also in a hotel as they rented their place out?

We are fine @vlmkpyae had a couple of leaks we've never had before but that is it. The rain was crazy yesterday! Wish we could have shipped some of it out west!

@vlmkpyae

We're fine too and I'm glad to hear @ElizabethRosenArt  is okay. We had a similar experience -- I have a couple of wet spots in the basement that I've never seen before. It was scary listening to all that rain though, especially the way it was pounding down on the skylights.

@GielDesigns we spoke to our neighbors on either side the next day (also in similar brownstones) and both of them had 6" of water in their basements, so I consider us lucky!

Yikes!! That's awful! The only time we had that happen was years ago when the city was working outside and broke an underground pipe. I remember putting on my rain boots to take pics and the water completely covered my feet. So far, none of my neighbors have mentioned having substantial water issues. As you said, we very lucky!

Who would have ever thought all that flooding and destruction  would happen in the New York/New Jersey area. The news footage is unbelievable to say the least! I am so relieved to hear from our fellow peeps here that reside in those areas affected are still safe. Prayers go to you for continued safety my friends.

It was just our turn I guess! We've been watching everyone else's disasters with sad eyes from afar for quite some time it seems. We had a relatively calm Summer in NY with no wildfires, brutal heatwaves or droughts. I've felt guilty about it!

It was really a strange experience for me because I woke up to everything looking normal both inside and outside. There were a few small broken branches on the street but people were going about their business as usual. Then I turned on the news and could hardly believe what had happened just a couple of miles away.

ok... i opened a search with usps for my missing package mailed aug. 24 and not updated since aug 27. usps was supposed to respond in 1 business day. 2 days ago! crickets. if florida a black hole? my expensive to me anyway package was last seen in jacksonville, not far from seller. : ( it just keeps saying late. no updates. and my seller is a labor/delivery nurse too busy to follow up.

she just says it's in transit somewhere. i'm in the window for leaving feedback. i purchased on aug. 22. she claims she mailed aug 23. scan was 24. but we are over a week since usps uptated it from late...

i don't want to neg her. i want the location of my package! i want to know usps did not steal it and add it to their auctions, a horror story i'm reading about. 'lost', packages usps just sells off! the rats.

why isn't usps responding to my inquiry as their worthless site promised? why? what is my recourse?
