It seems like there should be a single thread where team members could just gather and catch up with eachother about nothing in particular. It's nice to have other threads to discuss a particular topic, but would also be nice to have a thread where you could go to see who's around at that moment.
You know, like a never-ending, continuously running thread.
Thoughts?
Sil, how do I find the "I'm looking for" thread please?
i finally snapped at a not vintage item listed as vintage. there are many but this claimed to be from the 70's when it is 2002! i sent seller a url to the info that gave the dates. there were no happy meals dolls in the 70's! happy meals did not even start until 1979. geesh... the things people will do to get a buck or 10, yes, 10, for a 2 dollar 2002 toy! frown.
Thank you for helping to try and keep some of that stuff under control! I still find the most interesting vintage and handmade items here thank goodness.
anyone else have this happen? 'feel free to convo with any questions about this listing'. so... hi, sellername. i have a question about x item...
i did not get a reply. half a day later i look at my favorites page. they have raised the price 300 percent! and the original price had not said on sale x percentage off! it was obvious they had a potential buyer, one asking questions... why in heaven's to murgatroyd would any rational seller do something like that?
That's just bad business (and karma) any way that you look at it. We have a local 'junk' dealer in the country who I get all sorts of neat stuff from for peanuts. But as soon as a local antique dealer rolls in, anything they touch has a high price amount (if they were interested, it might be worth something). I think the junk dealer likes playing with them! He's a bit too lazy to search Ebay for value- so I guess that's an instant appraisal, lol.
I've never had that happen, but sheesh... would that be considered price gouging?
Just an aside,,,,I haven't heard heavens to mugatroid in a long time!!! We must be from a similar generation.
lion, 1961, raised by grandparents.
seller listed at 10 and change. convo question was sent then. it did not say that was a sale price. as i said, no reply. my question gave them information. 6 hours later or so it was 35 because i'd had a heart on it and saw. i instantly unhearted!
but who does that? don't sellers like to make sales? does ask us questions mean give us info so we can raise our prices? i never heard of anybody doing this in the years i have been online. usually people are happy to get inquiries.
@ElizabethRosenArt . well, it got ignored so far. all she did was put it on sale, not change the bogus wording that it is from the 70's. and i found another claiming the 80's. i sent them the same memo. not the 80's, 2002 and later. no clue what that one will do. sigh.
Hi Sil ~ did you know that CW/Collectors Weekly has a website now.... lots of talk on there about the Madame Alexander dolls.
Heavens To Murgatroyd.... sounds like Red Skelton.?
i loved red skelton.
Heavens to Murgatroyd sounds like a vintage cartoon? I can almost picture an animal saying it- where is that from @vlmkpyae ?
Awww... I remember Snagglepuss. Brings back memories of being in front of the tv with my yoohoo and cheese popcorn. : -)
There is a new stray cat in my complex....he's been around for the past week or so, hubs and I have dubbed him "General Lee" because of his medium gray coat. Haven't seen between his legs but I know he's a male based on the look of his face and body. Our paths have crossed twice, and when he sees me he lets out a very strong couple of cries. Before we left this morning hubs gave him a can of food (premium, grain-free stuff, which I always feed our cats) and a dish of nice spring water. When we came home a couple of hours later it was all gone. Poor cat. It's in the triple digits today.
He definitely isn't feral. I would have petted him but I'm afraid of getting ringworm. We have another male in the complex whose been here a few years that likes pets, however when hubs petted him last year he got ringworm which he said was very uncomfortable, took a long time to go away too.
Don't know if General Lee is fixed. I wonder if he's chipped.
lol. general lee.
@psych62Thanks for caring about General Lee!
You might try making a little shade box for him by turning it upside down and putting a hole in for a door for him to get away from the heat.
Also , you probably know this, but don't leave food or even water out at night.
Around here , it attracts, rats, mice, and wild animals that usually come out after dark.
great idea, lion. i hope she can do that today.
Yes, I cleaned up the food and water dishes when I came home. There were already a few flies buzzing around the food plate, after the residue.
I don't want to create a nuisance around here.
arrrrgh! etsy eats my posts!
gouging seller still gouging. seller calling 2002 vintage 70's is still doing so and neither replied. however seller thinking 2003 was 80's thanked me because i showed her a photo of a vintage doll to compare. 1 out of 3 ain't bad, to paraphrase meatloaf. wink.
Well CA Governor Newsom has rolled back many of the positive changes that took place over the past few weeks due to ever-increasing COVID-19 numbers and a fear of running out of ICU room. Gyms, hair salons, nail salons, places of worship, malls, museums are all closed now. It's sad. I hope we don't see a return to the "Safer At Home" policy and the closer of all non-essential businesses. But if it happens, I won't be surprised.
psych, it figures. a lot of idiots messed up during 4th of july. the fireworks ban was a joke. they were going off here as late as the 10th! i suspect we will go back into lockdown soon. oh, joy...
The Michigan Gov closed all bars again and made wearing a face mask mandatory in all indoor public places. Store owners are supposed refuse entry to any person not wearing a mask.
Dears, my husband has the news 24/7. I CANNOT BELIEVE IT!!!! now, there is coin (change) shortage blamed on the virus... Some stores even advice to pay with plastic because cannot give change back if you pay with cash...
Which planet do I live in???? Maybe, I need other cup of coffee. How in the (blank) the virus affects the coins circulation?
ana, my husband says...
'if it is believed that the virus can live on coins and someone has sweaty hands and handles the coins some people might think it can transfer that way.' who knows? he is not paranoid but gave you his best educated guess.
