Nothing in Particular Thread

It seems like there should be a single thread where team members could just gather and catch up with eachother about nothing in particular.  It's nice to have other threads to discuss a particular topic, but would also be nice to have a thread where you could go to see who's around at that moment.

You know, like a never-ending, continuously running thread.

Well!  I had a very rare and unexpected treat yesterday.  

I was visited by Mr. AND Mrs. Downy Woodpecker!

I've never seen the couple together before.

The females do not have any red on them at all.  Until yesterday, I do not believe I have ever seen a female before.

They stayed a long time and I had fun observing them.

I haven't seen many woodpeckers this year. We usually have quite a few. I'm having lots of hummingbird visitors, though. They are so cute!

Our hummingbirds are tiny.  So tiny, that if you blink, you will miss them.

I only saw one once, feeding amongst the bluebells, but it was very brief.  It was fast and it moved on.

How big are yours?

tomatoes!

this year my entire tomato garden has  been made up of vollunteers.  they're an heirloom known as "german lunch box," small and sweet.

i am harvesting several quarts every day.  the dehydrator is humming along. 

making lots of fruit leather this year.  (the csa is providing sweet peaches and plums.)

It sounds like your heirloom tomatoes turned out better than mine. 

I grew heirloom tomatoes once.  They looked like orange and green mutated blobs.

Have never heard of dehydrating tomatoes !!!!   I get many tomatoes from a friend every year / and I usually remove the seeds , skins and make marinara sauce that gets frozen for the year !

What do you do with dehydrated tomatoes !???  It sounds interesting !   How do you store them ?  How long do they last ? 

Recently had to buy a new stove / that happens to have a " dehydrator" function …. obviously have never used it !  Have never " dehydrated" anything !!!
