Nothing in Particular Thread

It seems like there should be a single thread where team members could just gather and catch up with eachother about nothing in particular.  It's nice to have other threads to discuss a particular topic, but would also be nice to have a thread where you could go to see who's around at that moment.

You know, like a never-ending, continuously running thread.

Thoughts?

Unfortunately, I cannot see without a progressive.  I cannot tell you how weak my eyes were with my old glasses vs the new ones.  I can now read again.   I have to tilt my head in a funny position to do it... but I can see the words!

@pigeonplumtree I've heard some people can adjust to wearing varifocal better than others, I hope it will get better for you with time, hopefully it's a matter of getting used to it.

ot prayer request. my friend, leigh, in alaska, is facing wildfires headed towards her, her dil and son and their toddler, and the mother in law all at once. they are frightened and all may have to evac. she has had terrible luck. first she broke her arm in the earthquake and because fema is not paying out in a normal amount of time it became a compound fracture because she had to work and couldn't get surgery, still can't. then her office was broken into, her comp and tools stolen, and now this. they need rain and there are not even any clouds. i posted the video for mayim for her but other than asking people to pray for her family's safety i can't do anything else and i feel helpless. please pray for her. thanks. the entire arctic seems to be melting. :(

@SewNSewSister . thanks, mary. they were spared the worst. the firefighters got both fires out in time and neigher leigh nor her family or pets had to evac. she is very grateful to everybody who prayed for them. she works for an assisted living facility as well so she also had a lot of seniors to think about. we just have to hope there are not more fires in the heat wave they are having.

ak fire update. friends of leigh's lost their house. leigh and family have been spared so far. the smoke has wafted down. thursday it was in seattle, today it has made it down to here. the air is thick and dark and i'm having to use a mask to breathe this morning. even the ravens, gulls, and starlings are quiet.

The spawn (my annoying nephew) has descended upon us yet again and is already doing my head in. I went grocery shopping this morning safe in the knowledge that he and my parents were heading out somewhere by train so I went on my merry way, to top up my oyster and get the bus into town

A few stops into the journey, who should come running up to the bus but said parents along with the spawn in tow!!!!

Fortunately they didn't see me as they clambered into the priority seats and the spawn bleated away.....

Are they actually taking the mick?! Even when I leave the house, there's no escaping the little freak!
