Nothing in Particular Thread

It seems like there should be a single thread where team members could just gather and catch up with eachother about nothing in particular.  It's nice to have other threads to discuss a particular topic, but would also be nice to have a thread where you could go to see who's around at that moment.

You know, like a never-ending, continuously running thread.

@pigeonplumtree . ok, smarty... i accidentally misspelled it in the 80's when i sang in a cover band and we just left it misspelled ever since. i have been sillhouette since i was 19. it just kind of happened because our good friend, cowboy, saw me standing in the sunny doorway one day, backlit, wearing a long dress and he announced, 'now that's a silhouette.' it stuck. :)

@pigeonplumtree . my friend in new mexico mentioned that her area normally hits 100 a week ago and her long range forecast is for only double digits until august. the weather is off everywhere. a friend in texas got rain. we have sun after rain yesterday here. i'm airing out the place on the side they are not bang clattering. it is quiet but it is lunch hour.

Yeah, it gets hot here like that too, but usually not until July.  And so far, it hasn't been a hot summer.  The hottest we had it so far is 89.  

The weather is changing.  Having this much rain is very, very, unusual for us.  But we need it very badly.  It's dry here.

they are still ripping this building apart, almost 2 months now. at least they are upstairs and not inches from us!

ok, remember seller 1 vs 2? 1 has listed like almost 7 pages of items overnight, including the one i asked her to hold. it is relisted today but not on hold for me and she never replied. :(  she is usps zone 8 from me, shipping is verrry high.

seller 2 is in my state so zone 1. i'm hoping shipping could be less since i don't need the box. total is more regardless but item is more complete and she only has 23 listings vs over 20 pages of listings, many of which are misspelled. i'd be happy to send seller 1 a list of her spelling errors with fixes but i don't get the feeling she would find that to be helpful. i used to do that with ebay sellers years ago. i'd help them date their items better if they said they didn't know, and i'd fix their typos to help them actually be found. i made over a dozen friends that way, some of whom i never bought from just sent little fixes to. i miss my old ebay seller friends. sadly i think some have passed. sigh. the big yahoo hack cut me off from 90 plus percent of my friends from then, sadly. many were hacked and i never did get new contact info. ok, i'm rambling. i hate hackers. :(

so i have now asked seller 2 if she will hold item until monday, and if no box would lower shipping. regardless i think it's the better choice, even if the cost is a few dollars more. i'll see how she replies. :)

wow! seller 2 replied already, holding it for me, lower shipping, relisting for me on monday. yay! actual good news for a change. :)

@Former_Member. Gotta just mention here that shipping prices went up as of this past Monday in the U.S. (again!). All of us with shops are having to deal with the new rediculously higher shipping costs...especially those of us who offer a lot of our items with free shipping. We try to build some of the shipping into the cost of item and we the Seller eat the rest. So our profit margin is even slimmer. Hope everyone keeps this in mind when the cost of an item seems too high even though it is free shipping. Just an FYI. :)

When I first listed my T-shirts on eBay, it was dead quiet, no views. At some point, I tried to search for my listings, Whatever words that I put in, I just couldn't see my listings come up. I asked eBay and they said I might have put my listings in the wrong catergory. After I rectified that, my listings started coming up in search and I started seeing views going up. It was like magic. If I had left it and not trying to figure out why then my listings would have stayed invisible.

I still believe that I'm not doing things right somehow, it's still quiet, on here particularly, very low traffic.

@SewNSewSister . oh, i know. the number 1 thing is that we get better tenants in here, ones who do not damage the building, do not cause cops to come around weekly, and do not need evicting. landlady has had terrible luck over these 19 years. two tenants died. a couple ended up in jail. a good one moved. one left when rent got raised. not sure about the others.

we are the ones here longest, our neighbor is the second longest. i'm not even sure who all over than us is left by now since they had to leave for the renos of the units. and yes, in an area of high homeless and very few rentals we are very blessed to have a clean safe place, even without room for a pet. if our ears can hold up past july 4th we'll be ok. ;)

@SewNSewSister . shipping prices. oh, i know! this whole dam, i mean dim thing is insane!

i feel so bad for the sellers of wreathes, pillows, signs, quilts, larger vintage, etc. ouch! i bet ups and fedex are throwing a party this week.

i suspect seller 2 was happy to set up a sale from in state to not have to deal with new long distance shipping costs! i'm shocked at how quickly she replied, and how friendly. :) i guess if you have few items to sell you just want them sold. i did not ask her for free shipping, just said i don't need its box which should drop it to the lower size category. i have never haggled prices with anyone because i don't feel it is right unless you are at a flea market at near closing time on a sunday and they just want to go home. even then i did not haggle. the tired vendor just asked you want this for x amount off? i don't want to bring it back next weekend, or something like that. it was a very long time ago, the flea market at the cow palace in the early 70's. :)

oh, and today nuking a spammer was easier. i did not get an error removing them from the members' list. i just got a member has been removed notice instead. about time! i almost pre nuked them yesterday but they had 0 posts and to remove a newbie without cause seems draconian so i didn't do it. we all have been newbies. i admit i am wary of them but case in point, luna, pigeon's friend. she has a borg name like i do and she's not a spammer. it's not fair to not let us have chosen names if we have extensive posting history but... le sigh. it's their sandbox. so, i think that is getting close to a dozen spammers i have 86'ed from here by now.

I zapped that same person from the games team today (I only knew you did, when I saw they were gone here too). At least it's not the onslaught we thought it might be.

To me there is no rhyme or reason to the new Lithium whole forum set rules of do's and don't's. It's like being in the middle of the ocean on a plastic raft...you really don't know where your're heading and you just cross your fingers there aren't any sharks around to puncture the plastic! It's a 'learn as you go' around here!

I finally got myself in gear enough to go grocery shopping this morning and it was warm but not horribly so. I couldn't believe the amount of people wearing warm looking jumpers and coats though and not elderly people who feel the cold more either

Is 23 degrees not hot enough?
