New Members:

Hello to all our new members. Helo bawb!
Please feel free to introduce yourselves here.

I'm 'Bopa' - but, just to confuse you all, you will often see me signing in under other etsy IDs (most notably sewmuchfrippery).
My 'real' name is Rosemary and I live in Abermaw/Barmouth, Gwynedd. 'Bopa' is my much loved 'alter ego'!

Re: New Members:

That's me in the avatar walking on the Promenade in Porthcawl.

My Mother (Mam) was Welsh and I've a driving force inside to relocate to Wales from where I currently live.

I haven't set up a shop here on Etsy, buyer only at the moment. I have a blog and would like to feature some of the Welsh Team. If you are interested, please go check out the blog.

I'll close this and head over to the other discussions.

Re: New Members:

Hello all! I am a newbie too and fairly clueless about this. Set up my business a year ago and now have time to try out Etsy. I have no idea how well I will do but I didnt expect to 'meet' people this way either so this is even better!

Hi mapesmosaics. Welcome to our team. Best of luck with your shop -- you have some lovely items. Please feel free to join in our daily chats. Just 'chip' in whenever you feel like it! We try to offer each other moral support. Selling on the internet can be quite a solitary occupation!

Hey there,

My friends, (the De and Roz part of our name) are both first generation English (Their father came to America), with a love of all of the UK, and I have Welsh heritage. Our over-all goal is to move to Wales, and open up a store-front there.

Hoping though that our Internet shop helps keep us afloat as times get harder - and hope everyone else is doing well.

Haia,
I'm a bilingual maker from the Rhondda, based in Cardiff creating bespoke items using vintage Welsh maps. I've just joined and am quietly adding items to my shop whilst trying to get to grips with etsy at the same time!
Several outlets sell my work, but with their 50% cut, it is hardly viable. Having a Welsh group is fab!
Diolch
Jen

Re: New Members:

I love Wales. I bought the Welsh cookbook that I put on the Welsh treasury I made and the Welsh carved spoon (such a lovely tradition) and since Terry and I just got married in August it will be fun to find a place to hang it in the kitchen. I look forward to checking in here. It so much fun to communicate to all of you faraway friends.

Re: New Members:

I'm sure your lovespoon will look fabulous on display Cynthia.
My uncle was a lovespoon maker by profession (he sold at craft fairs etc throughout the 1970s). My father also carved several and they are among my most treasured possessions.
It was good to see Amity's blog on Welsh lovespoons back in February too. So nicely composed.
Sadly, antique lovespoons are now well beyond my budget!

Hi...I'm not Welsh but I think it is the most beautiful place on the planet..I adore Wales and anything Welsh...I lived in England and spent as much time as possible having my husband drive us to Wales....I used to get him to take me to Harry Tuffins to get groceries and things at the attached pound shop....It was hours away from our house in the West Midlands...I miss Wales so much.....

Hi victoriasponge,
It's lovely to meet you. Welcome to the team!
Yes, I totally agree that Wales is the most beautiful place on the planet - so that's one thing that we have in common already!
Perhaps that should be the question that prospective members are asked when they join this team! Can you name the most beautiful place on the planet ...? No Welsh cakes if they get the answer wrong!!

I love your shop. You have some fascinating items. But how did you ever find the time to list over 600 things?!! It's making me feel like an under-achiever!!

I look forward to chatting to you again. It's quite late here in Wales now (nearly midnight) but I'm sure other members of the team will be along to say hello soon!

Hello, I hope you're all well, I'm Yvonne from South Wales :)

CTMercantile - I have you guys in my circle and in my list of favourite shops, you have some great items of clothing in there. I absolutely love the treasuries you've created to help raise money for Japan...a truly thoughtful couple.

It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance.

Thank you Yvonne. Its a pleasure to meet you also
and I really like the interesting things in your shop too!
I intend to purchase some things from the etsy people in Japan...it just seems like a good way to support and they have lovely things. The treasuries were fun to put together. I've just found out that there is a treasury team which helps to get our treasuries on the front page.
Good idea since there seems to be thousands!

Re: New Members:

Hello there Bopa Jones & CTMercantile :)

Thank you for the warm welcome and compliments on my shop.

I too enjoy making treasuries and discovering lots of new favourites.

So where do we find this treasury team?

Front page sounds good to me! :)
