'Bopa' here under another guise.
Thought I'd get a general chat thread rolling ... while we wait for the 'big chop'.
Shall we get our knitting needles out - like the women who surrounded the guillotine?! (seems very etsyesque!)
@Brenda not etsy but the other one. I had the same problem as you. I couldn't see my shop or do anything. My laptop is vista too and about three years old. Last night after reading the thread I thought I'd have to download a new browser. I was about to do it when I noticed I already had Google Chrome as part of the package. I hadn't noticed it before probably because I'd never looked for it. All I had to do was click on it and log in and everything is fine. It's so much faster and clearer. I can't believe I hadn't used it before! So check yours. It's newer than mine so you might already have it!
Ha ha Baban.....so easy to say but WHERE would I look for it...I have no idea about these things..... Makes me so cross when they alter things and they don't think about us oldies..... I thought firefox was a virus protection....as for Chrome, to me that is what is on a car bumper !! AND as someone said how about the customers...?? we cannot expect THEM to download another browser just to get online..... Admin need to sort it!
Hi just to say Iv changed my things around Iv still got a shop selling my artwork.. as Morag Lloyds.. but I have another shop were Im going to be selling vintage things.. mostly paper like old postcards, scraps old knitting patterns all that kind of thing.. Im going to be listing lots of things today.. so would really like your feedback.. or also if there are things you are always looking for to create with PLEASE PLEASE tell me.. i shall go look for you.....
Morag....that reminds me of my childhood and my mum's cupboard that was full of that sort of pattern....I used to sit for hours looking through them...
HI me under my other shop.. yes a lot of these were my mums or my grans patterns,, got so much stuff and need to downsize soon.. so thought it was a way of at least bringing in some pennies and sorting out things to go to good homes.. everyone here likes these kind of things...
Iv started to make some textile cards for my other shop...
Morning all..... love the new listings :) It's been a strange week for us on here. We had a flurry of sales last week and nothing since; very quiet! Hoping things will pick up now as we get nearer to Christmas.
I still haven't made my Christmas Cake and I had planned to do that this week. I know it's not going to happen today, too many other commitments. But I did make a nice pumpkin soup last night, my first try. I think I would change a few things next time though and had a long chat on Facebook with a distant relative I have in Australia who gave me a few tips as she loves making it.
Looks like it is going to be light enough today for me to take some photographs, so that's one of my aims.....
I'm in Craft Sellers magazine this month. Please don't buy it. I'm at the back with a hideous photo of me. Back in the day when my hair was short and my face was fat! It looks like somebody else! Sold three felt ornaments yesterday to a nice lady in Switzerland. She wouldn't have bought them if she'd seen Craft Sellers first!
Yep fingers crossed for thats rush! I'm getting decent enough view stats, but seriuosly people buy please! I'm wondering if cutting my prices is the way to go, but I'm trying to make a living!
I've just had a nose around your shop and your jewellery is beautiful. I wish I'd seen you rabbits yesterday because I would have put them in my treasury. This is a problem we're all faced with. You've got a range of items at different prices. They look like high quality pieces. You know how much work goes into each piece and how much time it takes to make them. Don't undersell yourself. The right buyer will come along. I think if you trawl back through this thread you'll find somebody giving me exactly the same advice. I recently had a custom order from Australia. It came out of the blue! Stick to your principles!
I asked this a wee while ago but think it got missed can someone explain to me about these add words taking out a budge and paying each week what is this all about and does it work.. it must have been something that happened whilst i was away... any advise or help would be great...
Thanks Cat :) I think I'm gonna spend time getting Folksy and any other platforms I can working and see if that helps sales! Fingers crossed! Logically I know you're right but I see money going out of my account for supplies and not much coming back in and I panic!
For Morag: The add words is supposed to mean that you come up preferentially in searches for certain keywords, so I said I was willing to pay $5 a week and see if it did any good I did it for a month no sales.
I think the problem is that I put my whole shop there and if for example someone searched bunny or rabbit cause that what my shop is full of they would get one of my pieces in the first line of their search results. The problem was they wouldn't necessarily be a piece of mine that actually had a bunny or rabbit in it, it didn't seem to link the tags with different items just a random item from my shop would come up if one of my keywords (tags) were searched.
I'm wondering if I put just the rabbit stuff in with rabbit and bunny as keywords will that work. But I'm skeptical.
Thanks both.. Its interesting to know what you have done and what you have heard.. Im trying to really study various things again like different times for listing twitter links etc.. the only thing Iv not tried is search adds and also maybe filling my shop up a lot more.. people do say variety and a shop with several pages really helps. iv looked a lot at stats and see that not a single key word that brings people to my shop comes from google search .. only searches withing etsy.. and Iv no idea how to improve that. I really think just getting traffic from within Etsy is just no good...
Im really interseted to know what others thoughts are too
