Setting Goals for 2015

Is anyone else working on goals for 2015 for your shop?

I was having a hard time figuring out what my goals should be other than to "make more money". That's to broad. I wanted to set some goals that were measurable, attainable, realistic, and simple. But I had no idea how to do that.

So I scoured the web for ideas, and tips. I found a site that suggested figuring out what you want from your business. So I wrote down some things that I wanted from my shop. Then I looked at last years stats. I made a spread sheet that showed the views, sales, and revenue for each month with the total for the year at the bottom. From that it was easy to see which were good months, which were slow. I could easily figure out a monthly average for each of the numbers as well.

Next I decided on what I hope are some realistic goals for 2015 for number of views per month, number of sales for the year and average number of sales. I then thought about the best ways to make that happen. I need to increase the number of items in order to increase the views and sales. So I set a goal for how many items I want to have by the end of May. I figure if I reach that goal I can either set another one for the end of the year, or I can decide to maintain that number, depending on how sales are going. I then figured out how many items I need to add each month to reach that goal. Of course if sales really pick up I will need to add more to replace what sells. But that's ok.

I feel like I finally have a set of realistic goals for my shop for 2015. I will see how it goes. Hope this helps others in setting goals.

I haven't sat down and done it in detail yet but some goals I have are making finishing touches to my finance record system I programmed, do more work on the website and get into more shows. Just a starter. :) I'll have more goals set soon.

Re: Setting Goals for 2015

Im adding some new mason jar goods for 2015. Ive been planning it for months and now its time! I want to expand on my mason jars beyond painted, like a one stop mason jar shop.

I started to add some of my new ones today and cleaned out about 'old' 50 listings. Ive been on a cookie overload testing recipes to fit in all size jars.(thats what I added today) I have so much cookie dough in my freezer as I only cooked enough to test and take product photos! LOL

I also need to get full swing into my site, Ive slacked for months! ha ha

I haven't figured out how I'm going to make it happen, but my goal is to get an average of three sales a week through the esty shop. Obviously, this all depends on the customers doing their part, and that's where I'm running into a slight snag.

Re: Setting Goals for 2015

I just finished taking an inventory of all my jewelry. I pulled out some pieces to tear apart and a few pieces to redesign. I'm planning on listing 2 pieces per week between my 2 shops. I noticed an increase in sales last year when I had more pieces listed so I hope this will increase sales this year.

Re: Setting Goals for 2015

First thing is better tracking my time for sewing orders. I have started using an app for that and it seems to work so far.
Then is taking pictures of all the items I still haven't added to the shop and listing them, clearing out that backlog will add more items to the shop, make me more visible, and make more sales.
Create a few new items, of course, and streamlining th eproduction of my best-seller handbag. I'm thinking about making a more "summery" version of it. And there are a few other printed handbags I want to finalize as well. Generally focusing my line on what sells.
Giving a good lift to my blog and website, they need a much better SEO.
Further education : I want to sharpen my patternmaking skills, and I'm planning to take classes on how to best intereact with customers and present myself in a professional fair setting.

Re: Setting Goals for 2015

My goals for 2015 are to do my very first craft fair! I hope to do a few actually. My father is a woodworker and has been for 40+ years and he knows all about it. He and I will probably open a booth together. :) I am looking forward to that. I also want to continue to create unique and colorful jewelry, improve my photography, and get my name out there. That seems to the be the TOUGHEST thing so far with this Etsy business. We will all get there!! :)

Re: Setting Goals for 2015

One of my goals for 2015 is to release a new pattern every two weeks.

I'm currently working on a bunch of crochet blanket patterns that I designed over the holidays at the end of last year, and assuming nothing goes awry, those designs should take me to mid-August. Actually finishing the samples should be done by the beginning of June.

After August, I have no idea. Well, I do have another pattern series idea, but I need to finish this one before I can start, so I don't know how viable it will be. It seems promising, though!

I want to fill my shop up faster than just posting the pattern and the pattern sample here on Etsy every two weeks, so I'll have to think of some excellent items to make. ^_^
