Promotion outside of Etsy

What do you do outside of Etsy to promote your Etsy shop? Is all your promotion on the web?

Do you think that doing art/craft fairs helps your sales on Etsy?

Re: Promotion outside of Etsy

I use twitter and facebook and just started up a pinterest account for it.

I've also used fiverr. Its basically a website that people that will do stuff for you for $5 (you can do add ons for additional money). I've used the below person for marketing and it helped get me a lot of exposure. They don't guarantee sales, just the exposure.

I've done art/craft fairs, and if done right, it can help create exposure for you and your Etsy site.

Re: Promotion outside of Etsy

I have not done any art/craft fairs, but planning to do them in the future (this summer)

For promoting pinterest and tumblr work the best for me.

Re: Promotion outside of Etsy

I use Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and Instagram. I had a blog, but with only a very small number of followers, it's difficult for me to come up with "new and exciting" things I think people would want to read. It seems that no matter what I do or post.. I stay at that small number. No new followers to the blog.. so I have stopped the blog posts.

Recently I was invited to sell at my first craft fair, it will be this September. I have been working on building up inventory to sell. Gathering what I need to have a successful show.. I have so many questions about selling at a craft fair!! And not sure where to ask them.

Here recently, due to one photo I posted on Instagram, I have been getting quite a few inquiries into my creations.. Call me crazy, but I believe it's due to the younger audience that is on Instagram. Rather than the stay-at-home mommies that do their online shopping.

Re: Promotion outside of Etsy

All of my Etsy store promotion is web-based. But I do a lot, at least I think it's a lot.

When I post a new Etsy item, I use IFTTT to auto-post the item to my Tumblr blog and to post it on Twitter.

I use Instagram to post items I have for sale, items I found that I'll eventually sell, cool finds and the like. I've even posted pics of my post office trips, just to let people know that I am actually selling the stuff I have!

I use Twitter indirectly for the most part. I auto-post to it when I add a new post to my blog.

I also use Pinterest to post my items and re-pins.

I find that my blog is becoming a bit of a monster, but in a good way. It has links to my Etsy store, and my other social media accounts. I also do a lot of re-posts and original posts of cool things I find, such as vintage ads.
