PayPal question

I just made a sale, and on the etsy sold page, it said payment not made and it said I should check PayPal (PayPal's email said the same).
On my PayPal account, it says the address is not verified and that I should contact the buyer to verify that she placed the order and that the address is correct. I've sent a convo and a message to her email.
But I'm not sure why I'm the one that has to verify her address. And what if she doesn't respond?
I'm pleased about the sale (it will be my 20th) but just wondering if anybody has any insight to share about this.

Re: PayPal question

Does it say 'payment pending'? if so it is probably an e cheque and will take a few days to clear with their bank!

Re: PayPal question

No, it doesn't say that. Just that the address is unconfirmed.

No response from buyer yet.

Re: PayPal question

Hmm. I often notice their addresses aren't confirmed either, but their payment has still gone through. Have you tried logging into your paypal account and checking the status of the payment there?

Re: PayPal question

Yes. That's where they told me to confirm the address.
So unconfirmed addresses are okay?

Re: PayPal question

I have never had a problem with it, but maybe someone else can chime in here and shed some light on it!

Re: PayPal question

Thanks, Allison.

I read through that and kept going until I found an explanation. It seems that I can either accept or decline the payment. If I accept, PayPal washes their hands of me in case of chargeback. I would not have seller protection.
And obviously, if I decline, then I lose the sale and probably make the buyer mad.

The buyer has 75 feedbacks, and they are all her feedback for things she has bought. No sellers have left her any feedback at all in the three years she's been buying on etsy.

So I guess I'll take a chance and accept the payment.

Re: PayPal question

I went ahead and accepted payment and printed a shipping label. THEN I heard from the buyer, and one line of the original address was missing! So I'll have to figure out how to edit and get another label and get credited with the etsy shipping I just paid!
But I can handle all that, and I'm glad the sale is going through!
Thanks for your support with this!

Re: PayPal question

Hi Jane, you can refund the shipping label and do that over.
