HUGE Tag and SEO optimization problem

I have read all the literature on creating findable listings, and have re-written title after title and tag after tag.

Nothing seems to work, I have 0-5 view from Search everyday and this is getting out of hand.

If anyone has any helpful advice, I'd love to hear it

Re: HUGE Tag and SEO optimization problem

I have this same problem, would love to hear what other people say. Seems like change my tags/titles often and only get a handful of people come in. :(

Re: HUGE Tag and SEO optimization problem

Same here, I know SEO is important but I don't have time to change listings constantly AND make enough items for my shop!

Check your stats page and see what keywords show up in your views. Start typing those words into the search bar and see what suggestions pop up. This will tell you what terms people are using and the commonly searched for phrases. Add those to your titles and tags as appropriate and then check again in a few days to see if any new ones show up you can use.

Re: HUGE Tag and SEO optimization problem

Excellent advice from Carol! That's what I finally figured out or at least read somewhere on etsy. If you start typing into the search bar some ideas for your listings and use those that come up in the drop down search bar. This is what shoppers are typing in, too. Just like in google search when you type in search, what comes up as suggestions are what is being searched for the most. And look at the keywords that have been used in your stats. Make sure to put these in both your tags and your titles. Use phrases in your tags, not just single words. This has really helped my shop take off. Any more questions let me know.

Re: HUGE Tag and SEO optimization problem

Oh I also wanted to add to do a search say, turquoise earrings, for example. Look at those shops that are coming up on the first pages or so. See how they're doing their tags and titles. You'll get a lot of good ideas. I just did a search for turquoise earrings and 83,000+ items came up in search. But if you begin to duplicate, not necessarily copy exactly, what those shops are using in their descriptions, then that will help your listings. Make sure you use up all the spaces for your descriptions. That allows search to find you in more areas.

Re: HUGE Tag and SEO optimization problem

Just using tags is 1/2 of SEO. You must repeat all of your tags and keyword phrases from your title in your description. If you do not then SEO will not work for you.

Re: HUGE Tag and SEO optimization problem

This is a helpful tool you can see where you stand and make changes to your tags to help bring you to first pages of search, takes time to figure out what tags work and what doesn't.

Hope it helps!

Re: HUGE Tag and SEO optimization problem

I used to find etsygadget a helpful tool. And lately I have found 0 search results. Either my shop along with tags in search are in trouble or the site is perhaps not working? :0 Afraid it is not the site. Thanks Janine for the reminder.

Re: HUGE Tag and SEO optimization problem

I did a search for my shop using the etsygadget and it didn't find anything either for the search term I used. However, after reading Sheri's comment, I looked myself and I found 3 of my items in the first 6 pages (I had done the search using first 10 pages). So, looks like it isn't working....

Re: HUGE Tag and SEO optimization problem

I found only a few of mine in first 5 pages on the link. I am finding a lot of 0 search results but in checking their link "check it yourself on etsy" they were right, I'm buried on most everything I search.

So I'm really in bad shape and I guess my SEO is in need of SOS and TLC, PDQ!!

Re: HUGE Tag and SEO optimization problem

I constantly work on my tags and titles, but as so many sellers complain, my views too have gotten really low.
So sometimes I am wondering is it my tags or is it something Etsy might be testing. At this point, at least for my shop, I don't know if it makes any sense to change anything around:)
