Scissors and Precision Cutters

Looking for recommendations for scissors and/or precision cutters to cut paper (I'm all set with fabric shears).

I saw that the Container Store offers a precision cutter and was wondering if anyone has used this and if they like/dislike it:

Thanks!

Re: Scissors and Precision Cutters

Hi Robin -
I have not used that particular tool. I still love using my exacto knife. As for scissors I use several kind but one of my favorites is the small Cutter Bee. It has a very sharp tip and makes very clean cuts. You can find it at any local craft store.

Re: Scissors and Precision Cutters

A rotary cutter and self healing mat does the job brilliantly.
I use mine for paper then just change the blade for cutting fabric.

Thank you papergirlstudios and dancinggirlart. Exacto knives and rotary cutters are great. I'm most interested in scissors or cutters that can cut small details and curves on paper. I will definitely check out the Cutter Bee scissors.

Re: Scissors and Precision Cutters

if you'd like to cut odd shapes (ovals, stars) you can also invest in fiskars shape cutting tools. They're pretty good and the pack comes with a template, blade and cutting mat.

also, you might wanna check out Aussie designer Cristina re's website. They make high quality tools for papercraft, plus the patterns are fabulous :)

Re: Scissors and Precision Cutters

I've never seen a precision cutter like in the OP. Interesting. I'm always scared of the tip of the exacto knife breaking and going into my eye. The precision cutter seems like it might be safer?

Just in case it's helpful to anyone, I recently got these, and they are WONDERFUL. They are the most teeny tiny scissors I've ever seen. I've been cutting very small detailed things, and these things come in so handy. I researched a bit and couldn't find anything comparable to these at this price, either.

I like this exacto knife. It fits around your finger (kind of like a ring). You can find them at Micheals or other craft stores also.

Re: Scissors and Precision Cutters

i forget what the name is for a special kind of paper craft, starts w/ S..maybe, any way, you hold the scissors in place and move the paper to cut the detailed cuts. you have alot of control that way

Re: Scissors and Precision Cutters

Scherenschnitte?

I find myself doing that, holding the scissors still but moving the paper. It does help, come to think of it!
