Help using beading wire

I'm trying to use beading wire to add to the backplate of my bezel. I've never used beading wire before. Is it best to solder it shut, then fit it over the bezel and sweat solder it onto my backplate? Also, can you hammer these beads to give them a flatter appearance, or will this ruin the wire? Thanks!

When I use sterling beaded wire I do solder the ends together and fit it over the bezel. I then solder it to the back plate. I've never hammered beaded wire but I think you could hammer the beads flat if you wanted to.
