Any Tricks/Techniques to Keep Clasps From Sliding to the Front of Delicate Necklaces

I recently started getting into making delicate necklaces - thin chains with petite pendants or focal beads. I am finding that when worn, clasps work their way to the front readily. Is this just the fate of this type of necklace? I am a chunky necklace wearer myself, so I don't have much experience wearing these type of necklaces. Is there a clasp type that helps to prevent the slippage to the front? Thanks so much for your help!

I think that is pretty normal.

I wear delicate chains and this always happens. Short of superglue on my neck, I can't think of a solution is the pendant is to slide freely.

I wear a chain with a heart my daughter gave me and the clasp is forever moving to the front, as I recall all the necklaces I've had did this.
I suppose if you found away to avoid this you could patent it and perhaps get really rich.

If you're willing to have your pendant fixed in place, you can attach it to the center of the chain, which will help keep it in front, the clasp in back.

I hadn't thought of that ShoelessJane; I appreciate your feedback. I do sometimes affix the pendant, but for many of my designs, I string beads onto a chain. I will consider this for future designs.

yes, it has to do with gravity, if your necklace is light, the chances of the clasp migrating to the lower point are higher...

Possibly add a counter-weight to the clasp side.
Can't say for sure without seeing the piece, but I have used counterweights with varying degrees of success. They make a nice dangle for a necklace, especially if you have short hair or wear it up.

Also, if you do fix the pendant in place, if it is lightweight, it will probably still shift around.
