Is there any glitch on etsy at the moment when completely incorrect delivery times are showing for the buyers? I have shipping time set up from Ireland to the States for 6-13 days, all my orders are showing sth like that" Ship by 2 Oct- Buyer expects delivery 2-3 Oct", my shipping profile shows my shipping times to the States correctly, even if I was in the States that would be a ridiculous estimate for delivery, I'm on a different continent...; is anyone aware of that? thank you,
for shipping to USA, for the baby mushroom hat and booties, I see
Order today to get by
Thank you so much @CraftyCornishMaids would you not see shipping to UK? still showing wrong, the 9th would be the ship by date if ordered today, not delivery time; by the way, your hedgehog tea cozies rock!
Thank you,
I changed my location to USA, so I saw USA dates
the mushroom one to UK says
Order today to get by
The problem is that Etsy is not taking the processing time into account when showing the estimated delivery dates. Someone bought something yesterday in my store and this is what I see on my order sheet:
Today I see this Shipping issue: Etsy Has Expect DELIVERY by Day the item should be processed to Ship Without Correct Standard USPS Transporting Days 1-5 business days From Indiana to delivery destination. Hello, the Delivery Time is Wrong Please Fix Before we get into the Holidays Shipping, or There will be Angry Shoppers!] We don't Want Unhappy Customers!
*Our shipping profiles has Our Correct Selected Need of days Monday-Friday & No Holidays Selected to Process the Order!] but the items Listings Show incorrect Expected Delivery day, Looks to me as if it Calculated the weekend Saturday Sunday Time to ship.
it is all messed up, even considering etsy do not take processing time into account (which is wild) when my ship by date is 23rd, the US customer sees that their delivery dates are 23-25.... it is beyond anything, I have shipping days set for 6-13 to States....it's been going for weeks now...
I stopped worrying about what Etsy is showing as delivery expectations to buyers a long time ago. Businesses all across the internet are doing the exact same thing! Even Amazon does it! I make a purchase that is supposed to be delivered in 1-2 days and then on the day it is supposed to arrive I get a message that it is running late. It is a marketing ploy to get people to click to buy and deal with any fallout later.
I recently had several orders that had an impossible delivery date and when I purchased the label it said it might arrive late, blah, blah, blah. However, the slowest shipment method was actually the one that Etsy "recommended". I say just go about your business and do the best you can. We can't change this practice, but we can choose not to allow it to stress us out.
Like @GroundZeroCreations, I see the wacky expect by dates but ignore them.
To date, I've had no messages or complaints from buyers because of the wacky expect by date range.
I had a labor-intensive custom order and gave it a processing time of 2-3 weeks. The earliest expect by date was the earliest date of the processing time range + 1 day. Using just the processing time range, the earliest expect date is earliest point in the processing time + 1 day. But is it likely - no. Add in carrier time. Absolutely no (unless the buyer purchases overnight guaranteed delivery). Does the buyer notice or take this seriously. Haven't had that happen so far. Until I do, I consider it useless noise.
@WinterNightStudio I'm seeing this too.
My shop orders look like this:
(USA to USA, Ground Advantage)
Ship by Oct 3 and "buyer expects package Oct 2-5"
Ship by Oct 7 and "buyer expects package Oct 4-9"
I suspect, that as I have my processing time set reasonably but tend to ship earlier, so as to have happy buyers and low-stress shop operations, that etsy is aware of this and is 'helping' me by expecting a package to arrive before the ship by date.
Update on an order now shipped:
September 25th order on dashboard showed ship by Oct 3 and "buyer expects package Oct 2-5"
Shipped Friday the 27th, etsy-estimated shipping time changed AGAIN:
"buyer expects delivery Sept 28-Oct 1"
So it's going several states away, shipped in person at the USPS yesterday, Ground Advantage, and etsy thinks it's a great idea to suggest to the buyer it may arrive TODAY ?
@TailoringByDebra
In reality, the buyer's expectation should not have changed at all. They knew the arrival date range when they ordered.
Is this new expectation being announced to the buyer, or is that just what's being shown when you go to buy a label here?
they may not have taken any notice on order
the estimated delivery dates are not on the order e-mail
you only get it on the dispatch notification, that definitely sets your expectations
@CraftyCornishMaids
Sorry, I changed my post a bit.
What date is the on-time contract based on when the order is placed? It can't be decided after the purchase has been made. Well, it shouldn't, at least.
I just looked at an old order email confirmation, and the estimated delivery date was right at the top. Have they changed that? I don't keep my order emails unless they're business purchases, so I don't have any that are recent.
this is my shipping notification
Ordered on Sep 8 | Shipped on Sep 9 | Expected delivery Sep 10-12 |
it's not on my order
This issue of incorrect Delivery Dates showing to potential Buyers on Listings "Order today to get by xxx - xxx" has been discussed previously.
In this Thread Moderator / Community Manager @thatregina acknowledged the issue / problem with "Processing Time" not being calculated when advising Buyers of EDD and closed the Thread with this comment / request
"Hi folks, we appreciate your reports. If you have not already done so, could you please write in to our Support team with the specifics of what you're seeing? https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-gb/requests/new I'll ask the team to look out for your follow ups. Thanks"
There is another thread from 2 days ago discussing / reporting the same issue
Many Forum responders cannot see the issue or understand the issue and are saying all is fine. But I am experiencing it in one of my Shops and have had to cancel some International Orders because the Buyer has been told to expect delivery before the Processing Time is even passed.
I think this issue affects Sellers with longer Processing Timeframe/s as the discrepancy is not so apparent if a Seller has 1-2 Day Processing.
When I go to buy labels, it has frequently been saying "may arrive late," even if I am shipping same day. Frustrating and stupid. I just ignore it.
Its an annoying item we have to deal with. One thing that they need to do that Amazon does is guarantee it doesnt impact the seller if we buy the label and ship the item when we say we will regardless if the carrier fails to deliver on time. Its nice knowing if I do my part and the part that is out of my control wont impact me as a seller.
I have packages and shipped items within minutes and still get message that the package wont arrive on time. I stopped worrying about it a while ago but I assume it impacts my search rating. Its an uncontrollable thing that I just dont pay attention to anymore.
that's wrong,
I bought the label on amazon, it shipped on time, with proof
they opened a case, amazon refunded them from me and dinged my ODR.
I appealed and lost, because they said it did not arrive, this was their response to my appeal
Below are the details for your claim:
A-to-z Claim Status: Granted
A-to-z Claim Reason: Package didn't arrive
Seller-funded: Jun 13
This claim is funded by you and impacts your Order Defect Rate (ODR).
@After9Marbles
Etsy does protect sellers as long as the seller ships on time and has followed all rules laid out in the seller protection program. Note there is no seller protection for orders valued at 250 USD and up.
Amazon says they protect us from getting dinged for late delivery, but only when we buy our labels on Amazon. (in the US)
I spoke to Etsy about this very issue yesterday. The rep told me that it's a known issue they are looking into. I went through and updated all my shipping profiles to something different then switched them back and it fixed the issue and started showing the correct get by date.
This makes me mad since sellers are affected greatly by this in that cases can be opened against us because it doesn't arrive by the unrealistic time Etsy is showing even though this glitch is fully on Etsy but it's the sellers who will pay the price.... This should be a top priority for Etsy to fix but since it's been going on a month according to other forum posts it seems like it's not a priority.
Now I wonder if it's a stupid Etsy test to see how many buyers open cases when it doesn't arrive by the time they show or some other metric like that.
I spoke too soon. After I updated my shipping profiles yesterday it was showing the correct "get by date", but as of this morning it's back to showing the wrong dates again.
Oooo… I saw this and thought “yay!” But then saw your follow up… darn
Yes I'm experiencing this. Very annoying but I'm ignoring unless the order is over 250 USD
Etsy covers late delivery for under 250 USD if you qualify for seller protection -- and I do -- so I'll let them pay out for their programming issues if the buyer is unhappy.
