shipping for events leading to late shipping

My problem is that I sell a perishable item.  These are ordered well in advance for holidays and events, before the date changes allow for in shipping updates.  Because of this I have a low shipping score, however I have never (that I can remember) had an order arrive after a requested date.  Etsy isn't able to fix my shipping score and as a result I will never achieve a star seller award. Additionally, all my listings have disappeared from the search pages.  Has anyone else had this problem and how did you fix it?

Re: shipping for events leading to late shipping

Not all business models work within the limitations of Etsy. Long processing times (including items basically being pre-ordered for an event to take place at a later date) are one of those models.

I've seen this exact scenario brought up many, many times before. I do not know if anyone has found a valid solution, as it's not relevant to me or anything I personally need to figure out, but you may find some answers by sifting through the vaults of old posts (I recommend starting by searching for keywords like 'events' or 'ordered in advance').

@LizyBsbakeshop: Not sure what you can do - Etsy's model is not favorable to long processing times or extended ship dates. While important to you, your situation is an edge case and not likely something Etsy wants to deal with.

"Additionally, all my listings have disappeared from the search pages." Are you basing this on your own searches? Keep in mind that if everyone on this forum searched for the exact same phrase they would all get different results. Because of "personalized searches" you can NOT rely on anyone's search results to define how your listing is ranked. There are many many factors that affect listing placement and the relative weight of each factor probably changes constantly. Even exact word matches to your title no longer ensure that you will appear on page 1. Your listing may be appearing on page 251 and Etsy is only showing the first 250 pages to the world.

However, there have been indications that some factors, such as an incomplete shop (location, about, policies, etc), are negatively affecting a shop's placement in search. Plus you have some intellectual property infringements that may be hurting you (i.e. Onesies is a trademark of Gerber Childrenswear, LLC).
