sale unfinished

Good morning! I placed an ad for sale and subsequently received this email: Congratulations! Your item has been purchased Order number: 148390 Date of purchase: 2023.10.03 Buyer: Emilia Gauthier Delivery to: 339 Acton St, Ottawa, ON K1G 0L2, Canada What should I do now You must send your Е Маіl in this chat. You will receive an email from Etsy. Unfortunately, I deleted my ad by mistake and put it back online this morning. The bank verification had been done. What should I do next?

Re: sale unfinished

This is a SCAM!!!! That is not how you are notified of orders. Your shop shows NO ORDERS, so it's bogus.

Do not send them your email because then you will get a fake email pretending to be etsy support that will ask for your banking information.

Mark the message as spam and run away.

Re: sale unfinished

It's a scam. Don't engage or share your email or other info. Etsy already has your email. Your shop shows no sales as yet. Any sales you receive will show in your Dashboard and money will be in our Payment Account.

Re: sale unfinished

It sounds like you might have already given them your banking information ("The bank verification had been done".) - if so

CONTACT YOUR BANK IMMEDIATELY!

Re: sale unfinished

I'm really sorry you were targeted by these fools.  They are hitting Sellers hard, both new and seasoned Sellers. Payments go through Etsy Payments, so a Buyer never needs your email.  Here is an Etsy Announcement re: scams. It used to reside at the top of the Forum (with reference to it in our Seller Dashboard).  But it has since been moved to past Announcements, with no mention in the Seller Dashboard.  And there should be a prominent Warning there. Not a day goes by where Sellers are hit with scammers.  And this is just the ones who come to the Forum, like you. I can't even begin to imagine how many others have been ripped off.  Stay safe.

Re: sale unfinished

What you should do is contact your bank and freeze any bank transfers, if it's not too late.  That was not Etsy you were talking to, it was a scammer.

In the future:

Etsy already has your email address, bank account info, etc.  Etsy will not ask you for this information again in a message or email.

Real orders will appear on your shop dashboard, and the money will appear in your shop payment account

If Etsy needs to confirm or verify anything, they will put that announcement on your shop dashboard.
