"purchase shipping label" weird glitch

Yesterday I purchased a shipping label for a transaction but when I went to print it, the "print" function wasn't there.  I was in a hurry and figured I had simply not completed the label purchase somehow, so I purchased another one.

Later I checked my Etsy account finances and found that I actually HAD bought two labels.  But when I clicked each tracking number to  see which one the USPS had scanned--BOTH had been scanned by the USPS.  The package had already been scanned at the next sorting hub.  Both numbers had the exact same time down to the minute for when they were scanned.

I couldn't tell which one was on the actual package.  Finally I thought to go directly to USPS.com and check the tracking on each.  That worked--one had tracking updates and the other had the usual "Shipping Label Created, USPS Awaiting Label", so I requested a refund for that one.

I've shipped nearly a thousand packages from my Etsy shop to date and this is the first time I've had this come up.  Weird.

Also, last week I purchased a single label for a single item and when I hit "Purchase" I got "You have purchased two shipping labels"!  That one was easier to request a refund on because I realized the problem immediately.  The buyer only bought one item, not two separate listings that I packed in the same box.

Has anyone else had issues like this??  I am not using Pirate Ship or any other services like that---just buying labels through Etsy.

Re: "purchase shipping label" weird glitch

Sorry it sounds like a user error.  The minute you buy an Etsy label, the USPS site shows "Shipping Label Created, USPS Awaiting Label" - that's not a scan.

It happens.  It can be confusing, for sure.  Glad you figured out which one to request a refund!

Re: "purchase shipping label" weird glitch

Yes, the USPS site showed the correct status of the two labels.  That wasn't the issue.  The issue was that when I clicked on each tracking number on the Etsy site, both showed up as having been scanned by USPS at least once.  The timestamps on each scan were exactly the same to the minute.

If it hadn't been for that, it would have appeared that I accidentally bought two labels and I would have requested a refund for the one that hadn't been used---which in the past has always been obvious just by clicking each tracking number on the Etsy receipts.  So that's what I did but both had been scanned and were in use, according to Etsy.  It was only when I checked on USPS.com that I could tell that only one had been scanned by USPS.
