"Recently viewed" won't clear

Etsy please take a look at this asap.

The "clear recently viewed listings" feature on the 'Privacy' page is not working. I noticed it yesterday and have since gotten confirmation from a few other shop owners for whom it isn't working either.

I had seen someone else post about this maybe 10 days or so ago and see it has now spread to my pages.

The oddest part is that the items showing are ones I looked at perhaps two weeks ago, not the most current viewed.

If this is part of the redesign of the main page tell us, (aka work in progress), and, furthermore, let us know if this feature will be restored as I have no wish to keep looking at stuff I have zero interest in at this time.

Re: "Recently viewed" won't clear

No, I got couples-having-sex drawings.

ETA, based on my own experience, and what some others are telling me, the items shown are not what I or they looked at previously.

Which leads me to believe it is connected to the home page changes that are coming. Gee, thanks, Etsy, for another improvement.

Re: "Recently viewed" won't clear

I was just able to clear recently viewed. Using my desktop and Safari.

Re: "Recently viewed" won't clear

I noticed this too.  I always clear the recently viewed items, all through the day.  But NOPE they're all still there.

Re: "Recently viewed" won't clear

I wonder if like many Etsy issues if it is browser/app/device dependent? I cleared my scanty panties yesterday and they are gone. (MSEdge/PC)

Re: "Recently viewed" won't clear

I have the same device/program as you, and mine isn't clearing. Nor are they on some of my teamies' pages.

I agree this is some coding BS. Not sure to what end though.

Not sure to what end though.

It was announced that there will be an update to the Etsy home page soon. Am guessing this has something to do with it, because we all know they can't do a new thing w/o breaking something else.

Perhaps the algorithms have developed the ability to peer into the deep recesses of our minds ...  And getting it wrong, of course.

Re: "Recently viewed" won't clear

Didn't this same thing happen maybe a year or so ago?  I remember a lot of people posting about items from a lingerie seller suddenly appearing all over everyone's front page and you could not get rid of it.

Re: "Recently viewed" won't clear

It's not clearing my history either.  Thankfully I'm just seeing wood bowls and candles similar to what I looked at 3-4 days ago.
Nothing similar that I've looked at in the last 2 days is showing up.

At least I'm not seeing men's/women's genitals or photos of men playing with their private parts.

Re: "Recently viewed" won't clear

This may be deliberate or Etsy has messed something up? While it does not happen all the time, lately I see photos of items I have recently viewed when I click on the search text bar to type in my hopefully winning search terms. Other times I do not see photos. Maybe Etsy thinks the photos are a way to get buyers to look at the items again, so allowing folks to clear their "recent" would not be winner if that's the goal?

Re: "Recently viewed" won't clear

Today I'm getting cigarette boxes and holders.

I'm wondering if that section of photos is not a "Recently Viewed" section but a "Popular Now" section. For me, it's not titled with anything.

(at least I enjoy looking at the cigarette boxes more than what they showed me the last time.)

Re: "Recently viewed" won't clear

Mine has changed today as well. There is no more mention of "recently viewed", and the "sexy couples doing it" drawings are gone. And no header of any kind at all to the section.

What I see today is assorted non-sexy artwork (paintings) and, considering the fact that this is what I looked at last night, there does seem to be a connection between the two.

Re: "Recently viewed" won't clear

Geez.
Well I tried clearing my history again, got rid of the wood bowls and candles I'd looked at and now all the items I see

Under "Based on your recent activity" are handmade "Cartier" watches from $2K to over $21K.
But then maybe they are handmade "FAKE" Cartier watches, who knows!

And I have never ever searched for any watch on Etsy let alone "handmade" Cartier watches.

So you know those watches are not vintage and the sellers are lying and putting handmade to get them listed.
I guess those sellers don't know a buyer could open a case for not as described and that the Cartier watch was not handmade by the seller and they'd win and get a full refund.
