Since 11am - ALL of my incoming orders have been coming in as "NOT PAID." The customers are paying for them, but it's not going through for some reason. Many of them are messaging me for a solution. What's going on?!

that means that Etsy's payment processing companies are still verifying the payments.
How do you know that the orders are paid? There really is nothing you can do to assist with payments, as it is Etsy that processes them.
Often people will reach out to say that they are having trouble making a payment when they are not. It may be an attempt to get you to give away personal information, or to take the transaction off of Etsy.
I am having this same problem, my recent orders say "Payment Processing" and that's not normal for multiple orders to be that way. I think Etsy has a site issue that they aren't aware of yet. I'm sure they'll notice it soon and take action.
@AllAboutImpressions this is not unusual. I've had that notification last over 24 hours for purchases! Sometimes, there are issues with the customer's payment method that need to be resolved. It's for your protection.
It would be unusual for several orders in a row (from different buyers) to be in payment processing, though.
It may be the site, it could be the payment processor is behind, it could be a connection between Etsy and the payment processor. It could be anything but there is nothing you can do except sympathize with the customer and refer them to Etsy.
It does seem strange that ALL of your Orders (since 11:00 a.m.) are appearing as "Not Paid".
Does every single one of these Orders say something about "still processing; don't ship until it clears processing"? I rarely get something like this, but have seen it in the past. And it's never several Orders, just one (which usually doesn't last long until processing clears).
So if it says not paid like an order I just receive says, do I go ahead and make the order? Contact the seller?
You start your own thread to prevent confusion with this one. And then you wait until the payment clears or is cancelled by Etsy. Don't make the order as the payment may never clear.
Hello, that’s a concern that you’re receiving so many in a row. I’ve been a seller for 8 years and I have never seen a “NOT PAID” until just today with a large ticket item. For my situation, I suspect they are a fraudulent buyer trying to scam my to receive the high ticket item. Not sure about in your case but I would contact Etsy’s customer service. What I don’t understand is how Etsy allows such purchases to be made considering there was no verified money transaction.
@RetrospectiveAntique: "What I don’t understand is how Etsy allows such purchases to be made considering there was no verified money transaction." Payment verification is generally a two step process - first is the obvious valid card number, valid CVC, sufficient credit / balance, etc. If the transaction fails here you most likely will never be aware of it. If the charge is 'approved' then each payment processor runs a risk assessment of the transaction. Some of these assessments require a response from the card issuer and there may be a delay before final approval is given. It is usually a delay in this second step that creates a transaction which you see but is marked as 'not paid'.
Understood. But it is strange that I’ve had almost 800 orders without that problem and it wasn’t until a large ticket item that this problem arose. I’ve also lost contact with the seller the second I mentioned reporting this to Etsy so I assume they are attempting to scam the item from me as they reassured me they paid (even though it shows on Etsy “not paid”). Another thing is that Etsy said this process will take 72 hours to investigate in order to verify their payment. That means I cannot cancel the fake order and relist the item until 72 hours… time of which the item could be listed and available for actual buyers. Just disappointing and a little strange that verifying someone’s “payment” can take so long. To me, that screams scam, that the payment does not go through efficiently.
@RetrospectiveAntique the 'red flag' for Etsy (and me) would be the large ticket price. Likely the buyer's card provider might be taking the time to verify the purchase because of the price as well. A lot of banks will if the purchase is out of the ordinary for that card.
Just because the buyer says they've paid, doesn't mean the payment has gone through. Yes, it's annoying the item is out of circulation while the payment is verified/processing but better to be safe than be out of pocket and no product.
With internet fraud running rampant right now and so many people falling for scammers, the credit card companies are being extra vigilant right now. I have received calls from my bank asking if I placed orders outside the norm. It can take up to 72 hours if it is a weekend or a long weekend for someone at the bank to be working and to get a hold of the card holder.
I've Just had this happen to me. A lady said she paid last night and needs it quickly but I cannot do anything as it is 'Not Paid' trying to get in touch with Esty support for information about this is like using a chocolate fireguard!!!
@TressesUnitedKingdom: Even if Etsy customer service was at the level many of us would like it to be, financial transactions are between the buyer and Etsy and legally they would be unable to tell you anything.
That just happened to me as well. Chat support is useless. She’s trying to tell me that Etsy takes 72 hours to process all orders and that’s just not true. When I get an order at night, I ship the next morning. It’s in my profile. This is not good.
I’m going to lose it - Etsy is seriously making so many huge errors and costing everyone a ton of time scrambling and losing Sales with their crappy customer service.
I just got this notification too and no idea what this means. For the not paid.
They’ve also refunded a case within the hour even tho I had tracking separate and not uploaded because you can’t buy shipping on the app any more but didn’t even give me a chance to upload it! Another store I have they deactivated 443 listings and no one knows why and keep fluffing me off.
etsy is so bad to sell on. Garbage.
@TheCakeHouseStore: It depends on the reason for the refund, but they may be refunding automatically because your shop is incomplete and you appear to be a reseller. One of your listings you have up as 'Made by TheCakeHouseStore' but in the listing it says 'Manufactured by: BWB Made in Brazil'. Craft supplies should normally be 'Sourced by'.
Plus you say 'Another store I have ...' yet you do not appear to following the requirement to list all of your other shops on each shop https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360017604474-How-to-Open-a-Second-Shop-on-Etsy?segment=selli...
These are all things that lead to instant refunds and other action taken by Etsy.
